Week 26 was a bit of a tussle for most, but a couple of nice returns stopped the combined total just 2:50 short of break even. Not too shabby. Best of the day was BJM who returned a very healthy 24:60. Unluckiest though has to be Percy who hit five seconds, how stiff was that? Humans again topped L1, he scored 14:20. Onya mate. Maybe you’ll be the one to make it 3 L1 wins in a row. Peter took out L2 from Stick and Oddy. Well played all.

I was thinking about this league cyc and its very sporadic with its ups and downs. You can win League One one week and be in three a fortnight later.

I was wondering if maybe we should develop the format and have one big league and have matches every weekend based on the same five selections but you are up against another member and the winner takes three points, one for a draw. I was also thinking that you could have goal difference in as much as for every five sp points you collect you got a goal awarded.

    eg; Cyc v's Ron
    Cycs has three winners @ 3-1, 4-1, 6-1. giving a total of 13 = 2 pts
    Ron has one winner @ 11-2 giving a total of 5.5 = 1 pt
The score in this match would be Cyc 3-1 Ron. Why 3-1...well in any game you have to win 1-0 so you get a goal just for winning your tie.

During the course of the season everyone gaets to play each other.

I was also thinking about "home advantage", maybe the home team gets five selections to the away teams four although some unscrupulous posters at home could copy the other guys four selections than just add an odds on fav LOL

Its just an idea, see what you think. I expect one of the brain boxes on here would have a formula for working out the fixture list!

I'm up for all comps Stick. Sounds like a great idea to me. it would take some work though, so I'll throw it to Ron. <laugh>

As for this comp, the reason I've stuck with this format is because as you said, it's fluid. I like your idea though.

    Like the idea
I always look for as much automation as possible. Therefore, from an admin viewpoint it would be simpler to just allocate each player the odds to 1 and add to goals scored. For each match the one with the highest goal scored gets 3 points; equal goals scored = 1 point. (ie not bother with goals against or goals against is simply the goals scored by the opponent). If you wanted to award goals on the basis of 1 goal per x points profit then maybe simply divide the profit by x and round to the nearer whole number. In your example stick this would produce a result 3-1 to Cyc. If there's not much difference in the profits then we would end up with the same score and it would be a draw (a bit like one team having more possession than the other but not capitalising on it).

So we could maintain Played, Won, Drawn, Lost, Goals For, Goals Against, and Profit.

    Problems:
    1. We would have to have a fixed number of players in the league for the whole season, available to play every week. That will not happen. Experience shows that competitions over an extended period do not work too well as people drop out or are unavailable.
    2. No freedom for new members to join in. I suppose new members could go on a waiting list (Non League) and if the the one with the highest profit gains a higher profit than the one at the bottom of the league they could swap places. Effectively building up a multi league over time. But I can't see that working somehow. Maybe those on the waiting list could be substitutes for when someone is not available.

Conclusion. A good idea in theory but I think it would fall down/become too complicated when people drop out/are unavailable. I've come to the same conclusion on my hare-brained cricket idea.

However, I'm only viewing this from my angle as if I were administering the comp. If anyone would like to run something along the lines you suggest stick then great, go for it.

I've dug out the thread BJ. It will be a self maintained list so just add to it. I'll clean it up at some stage.
