League Two - Blue Square Prem

Should the number of Teams getting relegated and promoted between league Two and the Blue Square Premier be increased to three, or even four, as it is between Leagues One and Two?
Or do you think it should stay as it is?

 

I think it should stay the way it is. Promotion to League 2 means as a club, you have earned yourself professional football club status, this is by far the biggest honour for the vast majority of clubs in England to obtain. By having just two promotion places in the Blue Square Premier, it keeps it exclusive and that bit more special when clubs do win professional status.

At the same time, by having just two relegation places in League 2, it helps clubs retain that professional status and protects more clubs from falling into a potential financial abyss that would come about as a result of loosing their place in the football league.

 

There is in truth no right or wrong answer to this. Mainly because to a point I do not like the three up and the three down policy, as I don't think it works correctly. In my view how is it fair that a team that actually finishes 6Th in Div 1 can end up in the premier Div. Oh I have heard all the arguments about they won the play offs and all that. Sorry I just don't buy it..........How come they are given multiple chances to get into Premier but the team that is already in there only gets one to stay? That doesn't strike me as being an even playing field. So Why not involve at least one if not all three relegated teams, in the play offs as well? Or at least something on those lines. It is true that this may make it tougher for the lower reach team to get into the Premier. However if they feel that they should be promoted because of where they are in the lower league then let them prove it.
The same applies to the lower non professional leagues, no difference in principle

 

i think there are so many decent clubs in the conf that it should be 3 teams, it does make me think its silly that every league has at least 3 relegation places bar l2 - i know the enormity of relegation and what it would mean for those who fall but it would at least ease the pressure to get back up. it might also help bridge the gap between the two league as it seems that most teams who come up from conf fly through l2 anyway, suggesting the conf is stronger than people think - and it is.

 

I think relegation playoffs should be introduced

 

BSP is full of class teams that would easily do well in the top half of l2, most winners of the BSP win the leaugue straight away, lastest being Stevenage.

However the league would never vote this in as they are all for self preservation.

 

I think they could increase it to 3 teams going up. However, I would like to change the play-offs to give the highest placed relegated side a chance to retain their status. Let them play the team finishing 5th and the 3rd team plays the 4th team in the other playoff.

 

I though it was a good idea at first but when you think about it- think how ill-tempered the games would be. Rioting and violence, especially if 2 rivals play, or a 'Big' club. The atmosphere would be poisonous

 

Definetely increase to 3, the gap between the leagues is small imo, as has been mentioned conference teams normally do very well for themselves in league 2

 

remain at 2. whilst there are many decent teams with decent stadiums the likelihood is that if it were the top 4 that only 1 or 2 of them would have the stadia to go up and then teams in league 2 don't know where they are.

If all stadia in the BS were up to league status then I would agree that it should be same as the league promotion/relegation (without the play offs for the same reasons as above. Should be a straight top 3/4 go up to replace bottom 3/4 going down.

Lets hope the Imps can get into the top 2

 

Why not do it the old way where bottom two teams relegated top two teams promoted then the 3rd from bottom of the division above played the 3rd from top of the division below if you see what i mean. Mind in those days only one side from Division 4 were relegated depending if the non league team coming up met league standards such as size of ground etc. Many league teams that were bottom of div 4 kept their league status that way back then.

 

Really it should be three for all Leagues...

Prem is 3
Champ is 3
L1 is 4
L2 is 2
BSP is 4

3 up, 3 down across the board and screw the play off system, Its just another money making scam for the FL.

 

3 up 3 down, if one of the promoted sides doesn't have a stadium up to scratch (and cannot improve it in time for the upcoming season) the highest-placed relegated side stays in the league.

 

Three across the board. With regards playoffs, I think the genuinely good thing about playoffs is it keeps far more teams involved with something to play for right up to the end of the season.

 

OK, how about a compromise, where it's 3 up and 3 down, but the team 4th from bottom plays the team 4th from the top in the league below in a single match at Wembley?

 

An echo of my sentiments earlier expressed....top 2 Auto's.......3 and 4 to play each other to find out who plays the third relegated team in a one off match at Wembley perhaps or at best include the third team to be relegated in the play offs. It will give the possible relegation team a chance and also for a bit of money to help them cope in the lower divisions.......
