I was gutted today. To go down in the last 5 minutes of the season is heartbreaking. But fair play to Barnsley and Palace who both made us push that extra bit. Before I start on my topic I would like to say a big well done to the players who took it down to the wire (while making all of our nails come off) you can see the despair on their faces and they, hopefully, will get back to the Championship. League One. Damn. Now if anyone has read From Hobby to Obsession you will remember DMAC talking about the terrible 'Plan B' which involves selling half the squad mostly. He has said drastic changes will be made and in my opinion these will be them: Tomlin OUT. He's not performing week after week and doesn't have a great attitude either. NONE of the loanee's to stay. Why? We're in League One. Payne will be in the same league as us. But we could buy Pritchard if we like, maybe. That's all I can think off the top of my head but I will say this. I have a feeling we won't reach the 3rd Round of the F.A Cup and do terrible in the cups. BUT we will win the league like Cardiff won this one. January will be our bogey week as we drop points to the lower teams (as always) but we will pick it up and secure promotion away at MK Dons. (I can dream can't I ) If you disagree with anything I said feel free to point it out below. -TheTrueBoro
I know that gutted feeling only too well .... the last few mins were just cruel. Welcome to the Posh board ... hope you will become a regular poster
"we will pick it up and secure promotion away at MK Dons. (I can dream can't I)" As long as the dream doesn't turn into a nightmare, I'll go along with that. With the new salary cap regulations in force for the lower Leagues I cannot see Grant McCann being offered a new contract unless he lowers his wage expectation as he is the top earner at the club. Mark Little is probably in the same boat. I have it 2nd hand that Darragh posted on Twitter that Tomlin and Payne would be Posh players next season, we shall have to wait and see. A small silver lining to offset the loss of TV revenue - we will receive money for George Boyd and Aaron Mclean in add-ons now that Hull are in the Premiership. We could get more for CMS if Brighton go up.
What would be ideal for us is go for a long cup run. Draw a big team. Go on TV. Get money from that. Then get in the automatic zone, get some league games on TV, win the league and then we will (hopefully) have a solid budget next year. I was looking at the Leicester forum just then and there was a post saying: 'Five years ago we were relegated Five years from them. Play-Offs' UTP.
Norwich were relegated to L1 with us..... won L1.... went in Champ.... came second in Champ.... now doing OK in Prem
AllHell - you forgot to mention the latest update of Norwich being just three points from relegation. Just saying.
I wouldn't say doing ok at the moment <wikes> <passing bricks> You don't have to say it brb. Come and visit our board and read all about it
The Championship is not such a bad league to be in M..... Houghton knows how to get teams out of it as well
just seen the last seconds of the Udders game. If only you had managed to score, that would have served them right. Shades of West Germany vs Algeria in the '82 world cup there.
Poor sportsmanship I would like to believe Darren Ferguson wouldn't have allowed our players to do that
