Premier League Clubs will be allowed to play their Youth Academy teams in this seasons EFL Trophy....last year it was sponsored by Johnstone's Paints...... The Football Leagues Annual jolly in Portugal approved the changes.......radical plans to revamp the competition were approved......sixteen of the 21 existing category one academies most of them belonging to top flight teams, will be invited to join a 64 team competition which will start with 16 groups of four before becoming a straight knockout with a final at Wembley. The Premier League is also understood to have provided £1 million to create a total prize fund of £1.95 million, with bonuses awarded for each win. A number of lower league clubs announced that they had voted against the proposal..... they including....Accrington, Luton, Portsmouth, AFC Wimbledon & Hartlepool.....Argyle not mentioned, so how did they vote ?.....many fan groups have also angrily protested against what seems to be more take over by the Premier Clubs of Football League territory.
It seems that PAFC voted for the new changes and re-vamp of the EFL Trophy. The competition had not been financilly holding it's own and changes where needed to save it from further loses....this will be very much a trial season. Most clubs had reservations about the changes ,including PAFC.....but felt they should support the FL seeing how they had supported Argyle during our period of administration.
You mean roll over to get your tummy tickled........load of bollox and I for one won't go to any of the matches in that competition. We owe the football league nothing at all.
I would not be there no matter if it had been home or away and no matter who we drew. They can shove this competition.
