Martin Allen. Just seen on twitter @football_league: The @npowerhq January Manager & Player of the Month winners have been announced... More on http://t.co/0gqyZVpY http://t.co/ZkL0RDgv Well done Mad Dog
Congratulations to Martin Allen, especially as he has come in for stick in recent weeks/months and that includes me. No disrespect to him as a manager but we all as supporters have our own strong opinions. The only award I want to see him achieving now in the coming weeks is auto promotion, let us get the job done early for a change.
Interesting question BSG but you should be able to work it out. It is not for points earned, 10 out of 15 is decent but hardly promotion form (and Northampton got 15 out of 18), and it is certainly not for the quality of football, nor could it possibly be for his dealings in the transfer market. Yes, you've guessed it; it was those TV appearances.
Clearly it is decided by a panel so opinions will come into it. However im pretty sure criteria to get on the listy is on a points basis, away wins providing the most points hence our inclusion. I havent looked at it, but perhaps most of Northampton's games in the period were at home and when you pro-rata it to the amount of games we have played MA could have more Manager of the month points. Also difficulty of games is taken into account, bearing in mind we beat pro, otion rivals Northampton and Southend in Jan, the latter away which was a massive result. we also hit back after defeat to Vale, which shows managerial chracter. P.S I like MA but am neither him nor a close relative and do belive he has flaws, just stating how i think it is selected!
MA might be on the panel. The real winner had to be Ardley for bottom club Wimbledon. 8 points from 12, unbeaten and they played Port Vale.
That's who I thought would win personally as for a team where they are and the team they have he done really well last month.
We had a few great performance , for E.G Southend , Bristol and to an extent Northampton , when we played Southend they had lost 1 game in 14 when we played Bristol it is their only defeat under John Ward and northampton were top of form table when we played them , good month
