Anyone reckon Patterson could have been in there is he had a full season? He has been very reliable since AN came in!
Interesting team. Based on stats isnt it? Sam Vokes headers won tells a story. I know it isnt the point but it wouldnt be difficult to pick a team to beat that one. I reckon I would keep 3 of them in a team I would pick.
Alot of people on here were against Vokes signing when he was linked. I had a feeling he'd do well in this league. I wont keep banging on about Power, but i feel releasing him last summer was a big mistake, and this proves it
Same as Wyke though, I think Power was pissed off here. If we kept Power this season there is no guarantee he would have played at the same level he has done for Wigan. Power was outstanding for us in the first part of the 18/19 season. I’d have that version of him back in a flash.
Vokes has done well but I do think he fits Wycombe and maybe wouldnt be so effective for us because of the different styles of play. Power has clearly had a good season and credit to him. I suspect he got big bucks at Wigan and we wanted Huggins more I suspect as a right back. As it turns out Huggins has missed the season with injury and we have had to fill in, which it looks like Power has done at Wigan very well.
Ive always rated Vokes, he was excellent at Burnley in the Premiership only a few years ago, it was pretty obvious he'd be a success in this league regardless of who he played for. Having a big target man is key in this division. Im not so sure Huggins was signed as a direct replacement for Power tbf, he came from Leeds U23s so for him to come in for a seasoned professional in Power would be abit risky on our behalf.
Was just meaning I think Huggins was signed as a right back, which is where Power seems to have played.
Yeah mate he's pretty versatile but RB is his main position. Coincidentally i was talking to a Leeds fan about Huggins today, and he was telling me how highly thought of he was at Leeds and quite alot of their fans were shocked he dropped down to League 1. Kalvin Philips tipped him as being one of their best young prospects in 2020, and also spoke very highly about him when he signed for us.
Max power played under 3 managers and was ****, he can never be criticised for effort but in his time here he was poor. Lots of people have criticised Evans, me included but I'd rather him than power in the side. He has done well with Wigan this season but I saw nothing of his time here to suggest he would have been any better this season than his previous ones if we'd kept him. Will Grigg had done OK this season and would have been more of an asset to Rotherham had he stayed fit , but I wouldn't dream of wanting him to stay. I honestly don't think Power fitted the club for some reasons that happens I'm not sure why. If we had given him a new contract I can't think of any of our midfielders that I would leave out of the side to play power
Good to hear that mate. I am hoping he proves his worth next season. Him and Cirkin should be an excellent full back pairing.
Fair enough mate, that is your opinion. Id have kept him though as a RB, not a midfielder. Hes played most of this season as a RB hence his inclusion in the team of the year is as a RB. His versatility and experience alone should have warranted him a new contract in my opinion, unless an adequate replacement was made, which it wasnt, which is why weve had no natural experienced RB all season.
Can see your point at right back, think we have been unlucky in the injury to huggins who is a RB and look a quality player in the game he played at LB . They maybe thought with huggins as RB and o'nien and Winchester as cover that we had enough, just shows you don't know what's round the corner
They really rated him at Leeds but didn't want to stop his progression as there was about 3 players in front of him. Not sure how true it is on the transfer but I was told we got him on a free, Leeds get first refusal to buy him back and they have a huge % of the sell on fee which I heard is in the region of 60 to 70 % as I say not sure how true that is mind
Yes they have another young RB whos just won young player of the year, and player of the year at Cardiff City.
