One of the many things we have lacked this season. Not just shouters, but experienced players (well we do have some who should be!) who are barking orders to the team, making sure everyone knows what is expected. Summed up by the half hearted attempt at a huddle at the start of the second half. So many avoidable events yesterday that with a bit of leadership, and concentration from all. One was when Ben Haim threw the ball out from a throw in he took. Also the number of free kicks we had - surely we should have say 1 or 2 people to take them nor 4/5. I think Taarabt, Bosingwa, Bothroyd, Townsend and Remy all took one. Who the hell is meant to take them! Surely if its only 1 or 2 players the first one can be a shot to test the range etc.. and if they get a second chance they have had the practice one if you like and can make a better attempt at it. The attitude seems to be ok you missed one, so its my turn, and so on. They seem clueless out on that pitch. Not like a PL side at all.
The leadership problem started with Sparky or TF giving the captaincy to Park..... a player who had just walked into the club...pissed off all the championship oldies (probably incliudes SWP, Ferdinand etc too)...and then h/Park couldn't even do it on the pitch...He couldn't even hold his own place. So eventually Harry has to give the captaincy to Hill, who game then goes immediately goes from plain mediocre to down-right awful....So we have no real captaincy on the field Harry (or who ever) must make a strong decision and stick to it. My solution .....As of 1st of June the captain is Jenas, and they form the team round Jenas. I have wittered on about the captaincy being the root of all evil before I truly believe, it was one of those apparently small decisions (the butterfly effect) that eventually causes chaos
The bottom line is we need a strong character who will command the respect of everyone from day one as captain. It's no surprise we are rudderless, we just don't have that type of a character at the club now. The first thing we need to do is get a player who will command everyone's respect and will be the first name on the teamsheet, until that happens we will not make any progress...
