People are all talking about the loss of our leaders in Nolan and if Barton doesnt play ? and how we are going to crumble under pressure from the loss of a the lazy nolan ...
Saying our heads will drop and nobody could pick them up ? Pretty sure Saylor our home grown true leader will be on the pitch , as will our new captain collocini (full international, and a captain at all levels)
Time will tell how they react when things go badly, but i honestly believe we have a stronger side all be it for me including barton than last year.

But as for the loss of out 'lazy leader' nolan , everyone who watched the West Ham game yesterday will have seen what a great leader he is ....
Zero Effort from him and about as much inspirational belief as James Perch could give to a team

Sorry for the bit of a rant but sick of hearing people whinge about Nolans leadership and how it was so valuable to us, not needed by our team, so happy he got offloaded to make way for younger and more talented players

I did giggle when the ball was played up to West Ham's striker; he looks around for Nolan who is about 30 yards behind play.

He's always been slow so West Ham have to change their tactics to bring him into play more often.

confucius once said .. Where Nolan/Barton led before others will now have the opportunity to shine .. the natural leaders we have in the team will come to the front, even if they're not the obvious ones at the moment ..

right .. now I've got that bit of sensibleness out of my system I can get on with my week <ok>

i reckon cabaye will be a very influential player this year and see him being a leader. mike williamson used to captain watford if i'm not mistaken. tayls plays with his heart on his sleeve and can be a leader.

Cabaye seems like a leader, most Box to Box CM's are.

Saylor is a local lad and has captained the team before.

Collo is now captain and is loved by all at the club.

    Looks good.

I wouldn't underestimate what we've lost in PL savvy from Nolan and possibly Barton if he goes. Nolan was a good leader of men, there is no disputing that. But Colo seems to be taking the job as a real honour judging by his comments and the fact he is attending everything a captain should be (including reserve games) I don't want Taylor to be a leader to be honest, I want him to take his lead from Colo. You need to have one guy running the defence, of course they all have to do their bit adn take responsibility but I think Taylor just needs a season of getting his head down and doing what he is good at. We've heaped enough on his shoulders and we need to help him become the centre half I think we all know he could be. Once Cabaye settles in he can play his part in the middle too, while Cheick's English is getting better and better and he leads by example anyway. I don't worry so much about leadership as players will often step up, its just savvy of how to win games in the English PL we've lost. There is no doubting that the likes of Barton/Nolan were of great help in this regard. Barton may yet stay if Mike calms down.

Tiote will whip them all into shape, just by being there.

And I'm pretty sure everyone will want to play well in an attempt to impress Cabaye and his dashing good looks.

Well, somebody had to say it.

i worry about saylor trying to be a leader.

colo needs to lead, and i don't think saylor can follow. prime example is the goal against villa last year - saylor was too busy trying to tell colo what to do for the freekick and his man got a run on him and scored. another example is the goal we conceded (i think) against birmingham, where colo goes to mop up the loose ball, saylor dives in to make one of his glorious last ditch tackles, so both our defenders are going for the same ball. inevitably the ball squirms out to the free man to hit it home.

That's why I hope he just takes his lead from Colo. I think he will to be honest because Colo is captain now and I think he understands what is required. I think Colo will be running the defence this year. Tayls just needs to do the Keown role, and let Colo do the Adams for want of a better analogy!

  16. It was utterly pathetic. Carlton Cole is like Shola, **** at PL level but could probably score 25+ goals in the championship if he gets regular starts, but instead he goes with ****ing Piqiuonne who's not nearly as good of a finisher as Cole, but is obviously taller and can win more things in the air, so they can thump long balls up to him and rely on Nolan to sprint up and down the pitch banging in goals from Piqiounnes knock downs.

Parker should escape while he can,.

By playing Nolan in his posistion all it does is stop the midfield playing football and makes teams play long ball. Everywhere hes played they have played long ball ....

No linking ability between ST and Midfield at all
    Lazy lazy player.....

Thank god for the beautiful Cabaye/Ben Arfa combo we now have

to be blunt, nolan as a player was holding our team back. said this halfway through the championship season.

nolan as a captain was immense and i'm yet to be convinced we have replaced that in our team
