Wish it had been us, he's the one lower league player I think could defo step up. He's like Lee trundle was a few years back except that he's actually good!

He's like a lower league Fryatt, we have a Championship Fryatt already.

Funnily enough I thought of Trundle when I saw this thread as well.

For me Le Fondre is in the same set of players as Trundle, Eastwood, McLean, CMS and others. They've scored a few goals in the lower leagues, the press have picked them rather than any one of the other 4 or 5 players that's just as good and become fixated on reporting about them. Championship fans up and down the country start creaming their kegs without seeing them play about the idea of them playing for their club as though they're the next Messi, and before you know it a player that should cost you a couple of hundred thousand tops with clauses on top for if they do well, becomes a £1M+ guaranteed fee. There might be the odd one or two that are good enough for the Championship, but because of the media coverage inflating the price they're just not worth the gamble.

As a comparison, Chopra for £1.5M or McLean for £1.3M, with their career histories should there really only have been £200k between them? And this isn't a slagging off McLean thing, even if he'd knocked in 10 goals for us I'd have said that he was overpriced because it should have been dependent on him proving himself and we'd just got lucky that he turned out to be prolific for us.
