FOOTBALL Genoa appoint former Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri as their new coach, just a day after Luigi De Canio was fired. "Genoa is a big squad and has everything it needs to perform well," says Del Neri, who has also managed Chievo, Roma and fierce rivals Sampdoria. Genoa fired De Canio after throwing away a two-goal lead against Roma to lose 4-2 at the weekend Looks like he still likes to entertain.........
I wonder if hes learnt English now.... We always had good games with him, Hughes on the other hand is so negative that I find myself not enjoying it, just hoping we will get 3 points.
Di Canio never settled which was such a shame, as he really had an immeadiate effect on the team, would have been interesting to see him with a full Season - that was the one the Goons could not be blamed for.
I can't help but wonder what he would do with the fantastic midfield talent we have at LR these days. I always liked his style and remember he even managed to get Pat Agyemang to score a hatful of goals....
Danish....completely off topic....i assume you're in Denmark....have they shown the 2nd series of Borgen yet....if so does it live up to the 1st series...don't want an spoilers as beeb 4 are showing it in Jan...just that it was one of the best series on TV in recent years.
Who is going to be first moron to say it then? Okay, I will. Why don't we get Luigi De Canio to replace Hughes? There, I said it. Best wishes. Your friendly, local moron, Eamon.
My fave Rangers managers of recent times. I remember going to see us at Weds away on a wet Tuesday night or something and despite looking great we were beaten by I think a Leon Clarke winner for Weds and after the game LDC came over to the away fans and just shrugged his shoulders in a 'watchagonnado?' gesture. Great bloke during the mad years. Gutted when he left.
Sometimes it actually comes down to the players not stepping up to the plate to get the job done. Appears that with Luigi Del Neri waiting in the wings, Genoa were just looking for an excuse to dump LDC, since up to now their season doesn't look too bad with a mid-table position and he saved them from relegation when brought in late last season. I really enjoyed LDC's style & character during his brief time at Loftus Road, when manager changes were like a resolving door - he at least brought a bit of stability and seemed to be able to get the best out of the available squad of players. In addition to acquiring Ale Faurlin, he was the other bright light during the Italian connection.
Hate to say it but Gigi is not the man to get us out of our current difficulty. We need to stop giving away silly goals. If we hadn't given away as many as we did during his time in charge we could have got into the play offs. His last game in charge at Genoa says it all. Still swashbuckling after all these years. If more of you and TF could accept that relegation was not the end of the world and we went down with a smile on our face scoring sixty goals but conceding another 75 then go for him. Just don't start a "Di Canio out" bandwagon when the inevitable happens.
So the Blackpool, Ian Holloway style. But if relegated, what would we do with all those players on big salaries and long contracts?
