I thought I'd start a thread so we can keep an eye on all LCFC players at the World Cup.

    Players that are going are:

    Wout Faes - Belgium
    Timothy Castagne - Belgium
    Youri Tielemans - Belgium
    James Maddison - England
    Daniel Amartey
    - Ghana
    Nampalys Mendy - Senegal
    Danny Ward - Wales

Good luck lads, do yourselves and the club proud.

To think that we could have 3 world cup winners playing for us. Come on Belgium!

I thought Mendy had a decent game for Senegal, pity they let it slip in the final 10 minutes!

Quite bizarre that Ward played for Wales when he wasn't our No 1, only ever played a few cup games. Hennessy has only played a couple of cup games for forest and now starts for Wales.

And it seemed odd watching Denmark and then realising Kasper doesn't still play for us.

Shame Praet couldn't make the 26, always seems like a reliable choice for Belgium

Castagne was probably the only Belgian player to come away with any real credit on tonight's display ...

Thought Castagne played better when he went over to the left hand side. I wish he played there for us instead of the right.

Youri was unlucky to be hooked at half time, as any one of the Belgium midfielders could have gone off. If KDB has slid Youri in on the right when he was in absolute acres of space, things could have worked out differently for him........if he had scored that is! lol

Poor Danny Ward. Gets on for 10 minutes and concedes 2.

At least he should play against England after the sending off.

I know he’s not one of our players anymore, but good to see Kramaric scoring today. Thought he could have had an impact with us, I’m sure we could have found a role for him. Vardy obviously had proven himself as first choice, but I reckon he’d have been better persevering with rather than splash out all the money we did on Slimani. You could see the quality was there but he never really quite clicked.

James Maddison is not going to get a kick at this World Cup is he?!

Against Wales, with 20 minutes left, the game won and top place guaranteed, that was the perfect opportunity to give him a run out.

But no, Southgate turned to Grealish!

Just stay fit for Boxing Day Madders.

Didn't go terribly well for Ward last night either Hope the world cup experience hasn't dented his confidence, just when his form had improved for us.

Thought Ward did OK. Maybe bad positioning for the free kick (like Im a world class goalkeeper) but the third one went through another set of legs which must have made it hard to see. Youri not having a good world cup so far which may put potential buyers off so good for us. Agree re comments on Maddison, in a game that was already won why wouldn't you give him a run, unless of course you were scared he would do something brilliant

My comment wasn't meant as a criticism of Ward personally, just the results of the matches. And not wanting a repeat of the Soyuncu situation, he came back from a bad Euro's a shadow of himself.

The Belgians aren't having a good tournament in general, I'm clutching at the same straw regarding Tielemans. My only hope really is that he stays until the summer.

Obviously gutted for Maddison, the Wales game was ideal for him to have a run out but from a selfish club view, glad there was no further risk of injury.

    Ghana and Amartey out.

Maddison v Mendy on Sunday (obviously Maddison won't actually play).

The better news for us is all of the players out are returning without injuries and in plenty of time to rest and resume action for boxing day.

Another perfect opportunity for Maddison to get some minutes but denied again. Why not give him 10 or 15 minutes instead of Mount. Poor lad must be gutted.

Papy Mendy on his way home now too.

Waterloo all over again mate ... but instead of the Prussians baling us out this time, Madders will come on to rescue us... it's written in the stars... <cheers>

Our last man standing, although technically he only sat on the bench for the tournament, is coming home.

I hope that it was a great experience for him, even though he didn't play.
