So far the lazy spud hasn't done match threads for non league games so I'm making one! If the bastard decides to do one then a mod can merge it into this one. With the league looking like we've already ****ed it up and being out of the FA Cup, this game is one of the few chances we will have to rescue the season. City are the favourites but they've just gone out of the FA Cup to Wigan and we beat them in the semi final of the FA Cup last season. These games should serve as a reminder to our players that anything can happen in one game and we have a chance to lift a trophy. Wenger hasn't won the league cup despite making the final a couple of times and it would be nice if he could win it before he leaves Arsenal. It's a Cup we haven't won for a long time and it'll go some way towards making up for the other failings this season if we are victorious. I'm hoping we go for our strongest available team which should be something like: Cech, Bellerin, Kosc, Mustafi, Monreal, Xhaka, Ramsey, Iwobi, Ozil, Mkhi, Aubameyang Or Kolasinac in for Iwobi if we go 5 at the back. I'd rather Wilshere in for Iwobi but I think jack had a small injury at the moment? If not get Wilshere in there. How do you think we will line up? Are you optimistic we can lift the trophy? How happy will a league cup win make you?
Winning this will also make some outsiders happy. It may even be acceptable to us Spurs supporters, if come May we are in the CL next season and you have not won the EL.
Ederson Walker Otamendi Kompany Zinchenko Fernandinho DeBruyne DSilva Sane Aguero Sterling Think that’s how we will line up
I want us to win every trophy we can. Again, if we do a United and win the Carabao Cup and EL, it will probably be the greatest season we’ve had for the last 14 years or so. Problem is...would that then be enough to give Wenger another contract renewal...
Which outsiders will be happy with us winning? Just those that don't want to see City steamroll everything? It won't seem very acceptable to Spurs if we win this and the EL though!!
If we win the europa league and league cup this season and as you put it have our best season in 14 years, would it be the end of the world if Wenger stays on? If the club don't get rid of him because he keeps winning trophies that's hardly the worst position to be in. While I understand your point I'd rather take the trophies now and worry about Wenger later!
Do city play in the CL this week or next? Other than resting players for the CL you guys have got the league sorted so i expect to see your best team possible as you've listed.
I see what you mean, but I just think collectively fans are now ready for a change - to see someone else given a go. I think it goes deeper than results at this point, I just don’t think there’s anything Arsene Wenger can do to ever get the entire fan base on board. Even winning the premier league most would still want him out, because quite simply we don’t see a future with him. It’s as if everything he does would be papering over cracks. A bit harsh, but the truth. The club won’t be able to breath until we have a new manager.
If Wenger won the league again (I don't think he will) then surely the fans would have to get behind him again? You can't be doing much better in your job as a prem manager than winning the league!
Looking for injury news and it looks like Ramsey may or may not be ready for the cup final but Wilshere should be available.
I thought I read somewhere that Pep said Brava would keep. Has he been the keeper for u in this competition? Hopefully so... Who will be your left back? That young kid? Any good?
I am not holding my breath for any of the competitions. In the EL we have no strikers. Except Bambi on ice. And currently, for valid reasons, we are not directly known for having a good defense. That combo won't work in a competition that last for 486 games.
I would go 4-5-1 in this game. Pack the midfield and stop City playing through us. They will try and press us, so we need to use the flanks and then release the pace of Aubameyang on the counter.
City will be looking for blood going out and this cup is something that Wenger can't seem to win, but we have a very good chance. We will have to play out of our skins defensively to get a result here. That means Xhaka or Elneny need to be the next coming of Makele.
Zinchenko is really good, should be playing a lot more He’s not really a left back, more left midfield but has adapted to playing there very well I just have a feeling ederson will get the nod after last night
Latest on Ramsey is he is back in training today and may be ready for Sunday's game. Mkhi though I didn't realise is Cup tied. So maybe the team will be: Cech (could be Ospina), Bellerin, Kosc, Mustafi, Monreal, Xhaka, Ramsey, Wilshere, Iwobi, Ozil, Aubameyang Bench: Ospina, Chambers/Holding, Kolasinac, El Neny, Welbeck, ???, ??? Although we trimmed down the squad which we needed to do to be bringing in new players, we are a bit light on the bench at the moment.
You reckon he will stick with Ospina? Ospina will definitely play in the Europa but I'm 50/50 on who will get the nod for the league cup final. Wenger tends to stick with his cup keeper but this could be a vital moment in German of him keeping his job and so he may be tempted to go for Cech.
Would be harsh to drop him for the final. He's the 'Cup keeper' afterall. Plus Cech isnt in the best run of form.
