Does our resident spud not like cup games? Arsenal go to Chelsea for the first leg of the League Cup semi-final tonight with a chance to make up for dropping out of the FA Cup. We've beaten them in an FA Cup final and a couple of Community shields in recent times and our record against Contes Chelsea is pretty good. Our last game finished 2-2 after a nail biting 90mins which could have seen the game go either way. I thought we played better than them in our recent draw but Morata had chances to win it for Chelsea. In this away leg I'd be happy to take a score draw and still be in the tie for the home game. In recent seasons we have played well at Wembley and knocked City out of the FA Cup last season so if we can make it to the final I think we have a good chance of lifting the trophy. We need the players not to lose there heads tonight and remember it's a two-legged tie.
No need to go gung-ho in this game. Chelsea have put a strong team out, a draw would be a decent result tonight to give us a chance in the 2nd leg.
looking to face Bristol City at Wembley, cmon Arsenal. Also notice the lineup we have right now might be the starting lineup we have starting next season... Mavropanos on the bench. "We are looking to loan him out" maybe were trying to loan him to Chelsea
on why Alexis Sanchez is on the bench: "You cannot explain every single decision, that is the decision of the day," Wenger said. What a truly bizarre answer...
Decent enough first half. We didn't create much, other than a couple of half chances, but we've defended well and kept Chelsea out. Wilshere playing well again, would like to see us speed things up a bit in midfield. I think our best chances will come from knocking some balls in behind for Iwobi and Welbeck to run onto.
Gutted for Wilshere. The guy just cannot get a run without picking up an injury. Hopefully it's not too bad. We will lack any creativity in MF now with Elneny in there.
How did Wenger become such a ****ing **** manager? Lacazette off at 70 mins again??.. Seriously, if he has poor endurance he needs to play 90 mins MORE often not less. He should push his aerobic ability in order to increase it. That's just ****ing basic sports science.
Wilshere and Lacazette looked like the only two players who might create something for us. Both off. What a pile of steaming ****. I guess Sanchez may sneak us a goal now he's on.
Lacazette's confidence is shot at the moment. He needs to play 90 mins in order to maximise his chances of scoring. He's working hard enough, but the chances are few and far between. Would have taken Iwobi or Welbeck off and put Sanchez wide with Lacazette in the middle.
He's not been playing badly. Thought He was excellent against Chelsea. He's quality im not really worried. The goals will come back but Wenger is messing with his confidence and doing the wrong thing from a fitness perspective.
I am more worried about how he is managed. Every striker needs confidence. He let's iwobi play for 90min after partying but not lacazette who really needs 90min.
Decent enough result in the end. Kept a clean sheet and given ourselves a good chance in the 2nd leg.
