I’m looking at it from a Sunderland point of view but I’m sure all sad football fanatics are suffering right now.

We could watch cricket and I hear some people do, silly mid this, long that, well its a good excuse for a sit and a beer I suppose. Then there’s darts, at Blackpool at the weekend I hear, good excuse for a day out and a beer, I see a common thread developing. Horse racing, been to that and you sit in a stand, in the sun, enjoying a beer, its there again.

It seems that football is the only sport you don’t need to be drunk to enjoy, am I being unfair there, maybe a little.

Still lets be fair, our team did give us a few weeks of excitement with their frenetic transfer activity, w have the friendlies now, I’m off to Hibs in 2 weeks. We may well have more players to come in, Oshea, Brown and Westwood to see, Gyan to return. Mind its a bit dull at the moment, cant get away from that.

No proper footy yet but we do have the SPL starting tomorrow, like friendliest with religion and kilts so it will pass some time I suppose.

Well, would love to stay and chat but painted a door today so off to watch it dry, chins up lads, I’m always here to lift your spirits, you feel better now, I know you do.

Well I've just had the kids out to see the final Harry Potter film, and thoroughly enjoyable it was too without a drink in sight....
Mind you, I'm nipping down Morrisons now to get myself a bottle of red wine seeing as I'm stopping in tonight...

Saw the Harry Potter film this week. The best of them all. Daniel Radcliffe finally proved to me he could act. And the whole thing in 3D. Brilliant.
I'm in Düsseldorf right now. Great night out, fireworks and all. And tomorrow Mönchengladbach vs The Lads.
    Nothing hazy and lazy here.

Lovely sunny morning here in Düsseldorf, just like those blue skies over Farringdon, seen from the Gilley Law flats. Good omen for the lads!

Syd, over the years I found I could only watch Sunderland & England drunk! But this seems to be a new Sunderland (unfortunately can't say same about England!).

Living down here it's amazing the amount of respect that were getting at the moment. When people used to ask where I was from & I told them, a crumpled look developed on their brow "where" they used to say. "next to Newcastle, I had to explain. Now everyone seems to know & want to talk about Sunderland!

They still don't know nowt about passion or football! Sooo if your bored you should come down here and try and educate these wrong uns in the finer arts!! They don't have a beach for miles tho! yep my usual hung over/still pissed Saturday post, I haven't got a clue what I'm banging on about either!!

Big, black clouds fill the sky looking west from Düsseldorf. Bad omen for Die Fohlen (Mönchengladbach). Got our shirts on. Off to the match.

Football the only game where you need to be drunk to watch and the only game where you can't take your drink to your seat pathetic, most of the cricket and some rugby fans also go to football matches so can anyone tell me what the difference is?
