http://uk.reuters.com/article/2012/11/22/uk-soccer-italy-violence-idUKBRE8AL07720121122 (Reuters) - Ten supporters of English football club Tottenham Hotspur were hurt and one seriously injured in an attack in the early hours of Thursday as they celebrated in Rome ahead of a Europa League match against Serie A side Lazio, police said. The 10, nine British and one American, were attacked outside a pub near the centre of Rome by a group of masked assailants. One suffered injuries to an artery and is in a serious condition. ---------------- Wish the guy in a serious condition all the best. Lazio fans can **** right off though. Chuck the ****s out and be done with it, they're never going to change.
Do we know if it's definitely Lazio fans yet though? if that's the case, then yes, they need to be thrown out. - Not to mention the fact that it's incredibly likely that we'll hear the "monkey chants" tonight. ****ing disgusting.
This has happened long before the match so can the club be blamed? If it was at the ground during the match then yes but Lazio will have a strong defence.
Shocking news, however a bit of homework from the lads and they would have steered clear of the the area they decided to go to, the Campo de Fiori is a bad place to be at night... http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/aug/21/brawling-drinkers-ruin-dolce-vita
Why is it being reported as rival fans "clashing"? Our fans were ambushed by masked thugs with knives and bats. What do they think happened, Tottenham fans were starting fights when a group of 30+ masked Lazio fans(who happened to be armed) took offence and decided to stick up for themselves?
they should cancel the game and give you the 3 points. That might make the club sit up and think , I dunno what the club does to discourage this sort of violent fanatiscism , but ill wager it aint a fat lot.
Its not just Lazio fans either, its almost every Italian club that's been in Europe over the last 10 years. It seems less common in Milan though and seems to happen almost everytime someone goes to Rome. And Napoli. Its mental how there have been so many incidents in Italy over the years (those incidents above are only English clubs) yet no one is doing anything about it.
Disgusting and terrible news... I hope the injured Spurs fans recover and that UEFA do something against Lazio. It's just not on
We saw what their fans were about in the game at the lane when they racially abused some of our players so I always feared trouble out in Italy. Really hope the men involved recover well and that everyone remains safe.
Lazio's thugs, known as The Ultras, are notorious for this kind of attack. Any opposing fans going to a game there need to be very careful. Particularly as the police seem to do very little, to **** all about it!..
