No you didn't read that wrong, Lazaar has somehow snuck into the 25 man squad, at the expense of Aarons. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/no-place-rolando-aarons-25-15108080 While I can see he offers cover for the left hand side in defence and midfield (albeit extremely limited) I can't believe Aarons - a homegrown player - has been pushed out the door for Archaf. I've seen more from Aarons to suggest he'd be worth a place in the squad ahead of Atsu let alone Lazaar so really not sure what to make of it.
Personally don't care for that nonsense, highly unlikely you'll ever get a squad of 25 players with out disciplinary problems and if you do your squad is probably "too" nice. I mean I don't remember Chelsea leaving better players out for shooting a BB gun at the training ground injuring youth players and no one seemed to mind when Joey Barton was at the club despite his numerous previous convictions. Aarons has had one bar fight, bar that he's no Nile Ranger. When was his last injury? You lads seem to miss the point, Lazaar who was unselected for Benevito for the second half of last season (didn't manage as many appearences for them as Aarons did for Hellos Verona) made the cut...
Just out and out bizarre the treatment of Aarons. How have we not sorted out a loan deal for the lad? Now he will be stuck in U23 football for 4 months. As for Lazaar, the mind boggles really. He has looked utter gash. I can only assume this is seen as Manquillo not being suitable for left sided duties and Rafa realising Clark is clueless there.
I don't think fitness, training or disciplinary issues feature if you read Rafa on Aarons before the Forest game. I'm sure he would have said if there was an issue. It seems clear he thinks Aarons is not good enough for first team football at present and that Atsu is a better option for him. It does sound a strange scenario. “No, he will not be involved,” Benitez said of Aarons, who will remain on Tyneside as Newcastle attempt to finalise a loan move away for the winger, who still has three years remaining on his contract. “He was training, but we had to decide. We had 19 in the squad and we left him out because in the end, we said: ‘If he goes on loan...’ I want to give a chance to some of the other players. “We have a couple of things [lined up for him], but because he’s not playing, some teams are saying: ‘He’s not playing, he cannot play.’ “Hopefully they will realise, because he has all the potential. He has the pace, the ability. Anyone watching him, they can coach him and then he can improve.”
Did you see the clipping that said Charnley wouldn't sanction the loaning of Freddie Woodman unless he signed a new contract. Not dissimilar to Rafa being told no money unless he signs. Such a tinpot ****stain of a club under Lee n Mike.
I don't know though, that is quite a common place stipulation for a lot of clubs. I think Liverpool did with Allan the Brazilian lad, Arsenal did it with Reiss Nelson, I think Izzy Brown had to sign one for Chelsea before moving. I think Liverpool have done it a number of times over the last few years. I think it is seen as a mutual agreement. i.e. the player demands a loan and the club protects the investment they've made. More worryingly is if Freddie Woodman is refusing to sign which suggests he has had enough of waiting and thinks we are a shambles of a club. You could see this coming a mile off, another promising youngster looking at us thinking, "they are ****, there is no investment, and they don't give young players a chance at all - **** it I'm off"
Aye, fair point. There's no bright side, that's for sure. Young Gibson, the utter ****ing debacle that is the Beardsley saga, and Rafa's contribution also cannot be overlooked - Manquillo ahead of Sterry? Really? So frustrating. We genuinely wouldn't look out of place alongside our six-fingered cousins.
About two years ago there was the same arguments about Aarons and alot of you ****ing over him. I got criticised for valuing him at £1M. Can anyone say what he has done in those two years?
Affray in Livello’s? But does anyone else think Woodman is ready? Only seen a little of him but nothing to suggest he should be ahead of D’goalkeeper. What then? A seat on the bench? That won’t help him.
Not sure why you have quoted me about Woodman when I was talking about Aarons. As for Woodman - no he is not ready so why isn't he out on loan? If he is ready then a place on the bench and playing two games a season in the cups.
I did answer about Aarons. You asked what he had done in the last two years and I said affray in Livello’s.
Despite a couple of moments from what I have seen of Aarons he has a long way to go to cut it as a Prem player.
Is Aarons the young lad who broke into the team when you last went down? If so is he not still young enough to be classed as homegrown and not take up a squad place?
Been discarded by the current manager and a loan to Italy I think. During that time we’ve been in the championship and bought **** players and still not give him a chance.
Yes I think Woodman is ready. I know what won’t help him - neither out on loan or even getting the cup games. U23? He’s already better than that. He is a massive talent from what I’ve seen. If Dubravka is the choice, and he isn’t a bad one, then get the lad out on loan. If he is here then why kick him in the teeth by playing Darlow who you’ve already decided isn’t good enough? If the goal is simply to piss off a promising young keeper until he leaves, we’ve done a fabulous job. Our fans do make me laugh. Mbemba, Mitrovic, Armstrong, Aaron’s, Woodman, Gibson, Mbabu - all not ready or not good enough. This is based on mainly their opinion of a managers opinion. They have hardly played despite some good loan spells or stellar national junior team performances. Or just being persona non grata. In the meantime we have a talent crisis at the club. Don’t get a chance and leave. Other clubs give these types a chance before they discard them or piss them off. Or at least have a development loan plan to keep them happy. Personally I think every single one of those is good enough to be part of our current squad. Mbabu and Gibson much better than Lazaar and Manquillo. Aaron’s better than Atsu. Woodman better than Darlow, possibly Dubravka. Armstrong could have supplemented what we have. 7 young lads wasted in my opinion.
