Gutted for them - especially Bassett for the OG. Played their hearts out.

Rooney & co - that's the commitment we expect. The standard has been set.

I am only speaking for myself, but I can tolerate a defeat if you can say worked as hard as we possibly could.

The U.S. should have had their player sent off when the penalty was awarded. No excuses for poor refereeing decisions when the law clearly states that if you were the last player and you denied a goal scoring opportunity you will be sent off. That's the law and again the Excited States gets away with another one.

They were certainly good to watch and whilst we lacked some basic skills, the heart and enthusiasm shown was great. Japan were certainly more composed on the ball and were able to string passes together whereas England were content to mainly hit long balls. The 10 minute spell in the second half when Duggan hit the bar and Scott went agonizingly close was the time when we should have sewn the game up.

I will watch the final on Sunday as my kiddos are both supporting the USA......if England would have made it through it would have been a testing time in my household!

I'm of the opinion that the women shouldn't be judged on what the men have achieved. Their sport is nowhere near as well-known, and the standard will naturally be completely different when you consider the level of coaching between the genders.

They've done England proud by reaching a semi-final. They've set themselves a good standard to build on, and we'll see how the women's game moves on in this country from this.

The Lionesses were immense yesterday. Doesn't matter what you think of the womens' game, they played their hearts out for their country yesterday and I, for one, was extremely proud of them. Made it sweeter that it was Germany we faced, the current #1 ranked team in the world plus it was July 4th and gave me an excuse to fly the Union Jack on the USA's birthday!

Lionesses Rock! Some of our overpaid male players should take note......

Just want Japan to beat the U.S.A. today to put the icing on the cake. Thanks Lewis for playing your part in my good weekend.
