    Newcastle v Blackburn
The Magpies must cope without top scorer Demba Ba
If Demba Ba was able to play, I would back Newcastle here. But he has joined up with Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations, and I think Blackburn will pinch a draw.

These two have got previous in the Carling Cup earlier this season, when Rovers came out on top in a 4-3 thriller, but I cannot see there being as many goals in it this time around.

    Prediction: 1-1

Not like Ben Arfa won't get a game or anything, plus even without Ba I'm sure we can beat Blackburn's first teams let alone the reserves.

fair enough I suppose. Although I think we'll win ;)

I was at the 4-3 and It was one of the best away games I've ever been on but we conceeded stupid goals. If we have ur wits about us and don't underestimate the opposition we'll be ok on Saturday.
However I must say I fear this one will be harder than expected...

I'm expecting a 1-0 or 2-1 win, but we can't get too confident, remember the last cup game... :/

not to sound the pessimist but i honestly think it will be Shola and Best playing with a possible ben arfa cameo.

I hope Benny gets a start and some decent playing time. We will need him now Demba is off. So I predict a hat-trick for Hatem! :) and an easy 3-0......hopefully

I'm going 1-0 Blacburn, on account of what happened last time you played each other in a cup. Would love a Toon win, just don't see it happening.

He scored 1 point in the midweek games, just so everyone's clear - that means he called ONE result right, and he didn't even get the score. :)
3-2 to us. We're ahead 3-0 then we concede two goals in five minutes making for squeaky bums all round.

Do you also remember that the penalty that they got shouldn't have been a pen as Krul got the ball, and their 3rd goal was a flukey deflection from a free kick?

He predicted us a 1-1 draw against manure and we won 3-0 so I'll take that as another 3-0 win then, which I would be more than happy with.

No i didn't remeber that. And so what if the 3rd was a fluke, you shouldn't have given away a free kick in a scorable position.

    That last part is stupid.

It's not as simple as "don't give away free kicks". If you go diving in stupidly in your own half, then yes you deserve to be punished, but if it's just a 50/50 duel between two players that gets given against you, you can't just say "oh well you shouldn't have given away that free kick", if the free kick results in a goal. If you don't challenge players, then you just open yourself up for the opposite team to run at you.

I suppose you'll now say "oh well get your tackles right and don't foul players". <doh>

I like you mate, you're alright, but the last part of your comment was a bit silly.

I would love it for a wasp to go in Lawro's mouth, couldn't make him look any uglier or stupid but it would shut him up for a while.

Actually I wouldn't be too surprised to see HBA start this game. It seems he's fit enough so he just needs some playing time under his belt to sharpen him up. It'll do him the world of good.
