I can honestly say that I've never despised someone as much as Lawrenson.
I thought his punditry was awful, but it really does look world class when compared to his dire co-commentary.
The man just seems to want to make 'funny' little asides the whole match, mixed with negative comments and general bitterness.
He's an embarrassment and should be retired immediately.

    Couldn't agree more, Dorset.

    Embarrassing in the extreme.

I can only assume that he has some considerable dirt on someone high up in the beeb.It must be so obvious that he is useless to everyone around him that he is not up to the job.

In the Italy v Germany semi final, he "joked" (like the smug twat that he is) when Reus
(pronounced Royce) came on as sub "I bet I know what his nickname is in the dressing room" - The commentator sighed and said "Rolls?", humouring the senseless arsehole - who just started giggling, ffs! <grr>

I have a theory with his forecasts: If you had three pieces of paper Home win, draw, away and picked them out at random you would do as well as him.

It's bad enough him being on TV at all, but the fact he's paid an extorniate salary out of our licence fees makes my blood boil. He's a dinosaur who played a completely different game to that of today. FFS when he played Liverpool were winning League titles, that says it all. Why can't the BBC employ someone recently retired instead of that old twat <doh>

I must admit I never used to mind him but he is beginning to grate considerably.

Shearer is the one who should be sacked though, no tactical insight or charisma whatsoever.

He just describes events in a dull unexpressive fashion.

I suppose we can all be grateful Ian Wright hasn't covered the Euros

So then, which pundits do we like? Let's put together a punditry dream team (3 in studio, 2 commentators, 1 pitchside)

Gotta get Collymore and G. Neville + another in studio IMO.

I find it insulting that he gets paid to have the opinions that he has. Complete moron.

Definitely Dixon, and I do think Gary Neville has shown himself to have something to say, though the orgasmic outcries need to be stopped!

With the possible exception of Carragher everyone mentioned is streets ahead of Lawrenson and that includes Claridge and Keane.

Lawrenson, talking about £14m for Jordi Alba "Cheap. That's two and a half Andy Carrolls".

Err, no. It's not. Carroll did not cost £5.6m <doh>
