http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...earch.html?s=&authornamef=Sportsmail+Reporter Surprise surprise, Mark Lawrenson criticises Liverpool yet again. ----------------------------------------- Former Liverpool defender and Match of the Day pundit Mark Lawrenson has hit out at the ongoing fly-on-the-wall documentary detailing life behind the scenes at Anfield. Being: Liverpool, currently being aired on Channel 5, takes a behind the scenes look at the club with manager Brendan Rodgers featuring prominently. And Lawrenson was critical of the Northern Irishman's participation in his column for the Daily Mirror - claiming that Anfield bosses of old would be 'turning in their graves'. 'What on earth is Brendan Rodgers doing in this programme Being: Liverpool?', writes Lawrenson, who was also critical of the club's American owners. 'Iâm sorry, I just think this show comes across as American schmalz. Itâs totally ill-advised and some of the stuff that I have seen so far in the first three episodes is cringeworthy. 'I think everybody shares that point of view. The problem is, once you get American owners intent on doing it and intent on getting everyone involved itâs extremely difficult. 'Well, at the moment the club isnât doing particularly well. The soundbites are great but itâs plain for everyone to see that there is a lot wrong.' Lawrenson, who made 241 appearances as a defender for the Reds in the 1980s, added: 'One other thing. The show I saw on Saturday ended up with Ian Ayre, the chief executive, jumping on his Harley Davison and riding through the city. 'Come on!! Shankly would be turning in his grave. So would Paisley and ***an and all of those Liverpool legends.'
I think the documentary is ****ing embarrasing and hope it gets canned. ITs hard enough for us to attract top players given our current situation but add the danger of appearing on this as well and we'll be lucky to attract anyone.
I'd have to disagree - I'm enjoying it to be honest. I'm one of those that likes the 'behind the scenes' type programmes. The programme would have been a lot better had we been more successful on the pitch though.
It's a 6 part one off series that was used to introduce the club to the US, the series has since garnered interest from other stations in other countries and they want to show it. I think its a good idea, we can't gain more TV money from football so why not look for TV money without having to kick a ball? Rodgers did not sign up for Being Liverpool, Lawerson is an idiot, the series started filming during the FA Cup final... You know the FA Cup final where Kenny was in charge and Rodgers was in Wales trying to sign Gyfill Sigersson for Swansea. Football is a different sport now to what it was in the 60's, 70's and 80's winning tournaments do not guarantee big prize pots. you get less than £3m for winning the europa league and if you do not reach the quarter finals you are probably running at a loss as rounds before require heavily discounted tickets, policing, planes to the other side of europe, appearance fees, etc... Liverpool need to think outside the box and be innovative if they want to move forward. Gone are the days when you can sign up a player for a grand with a hundread quid thrown in as a signing on fee. Lawrenson is a dinosaur.
How many teams do you think will have a series on them in the coming years? Wouldn't be surprised if there are a few! And what made me laugh in Lawro's article was when he said: Well, seeing as this is being produced by Americans, for the American market, I'm not suprised!!
^^^ THIS The show is not as bad as I expected. I expected it to be a totally team orientated fly on the wall, but the fact that you've got Dave Kirby and the likes of security at Melwood, just give it a taste of the whole club. And what is so wrong with Ian Ayre on his bike? OK he looks like a bit of a daft twat, but hey ho! Not the end of the world, or anything to get Shankly revolving at great speed in the ground now is it? And for once, we are the first to do it, so if Man U or Chavski try it, they will be copying us. We should keep it up, and make ourselves the Kardasians of the footballing world. If it brings a new audience to us from around the world, let is milk our mild embarrassment to the full!
Don't mention Lawrenson to me he is a grade one p*ick, high on his own opinion and absolutely *uckin useless. All team bias aside when looking at incidents it is possible to be forensic in your evaluation but he A: has no concept of reality, B: thinks any garbage he sprouts is effective comment, C: Is so outdated and unaware of the politics of incidents and the repercussions, it is beyond words. Colin Murray is developing into the usual class of idiot you see introducing sport shows as well. Happy to go along with the banter and offer no direction to the more contentious points discussed and I thought he used to be good! The reaction of them all to the Bale dive is incredible given the stick they had just given Suarez with no mention he had been kicked to bits and trodden on like many previous weeks. Link to One and a half minutes of match of the day 2 below. Quite clearly a dive, though comical really !!!!!!!!!!!... apparently..... Really, the guy dived and lifted his head staring at the linesman, but hey even the goalkeeper he was trying to get sent off was laughing, was he! I saw him lift his hand to indicate Bale should have been booked and then mouth "f**kin Dive", he definitely wasn't laughing at any joke, just the sheer pomposity of it, now had that been Suarez http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/motd-analysis-gareth-bales-dirty-dive-tottenham-v-aston-villa/ Sorry I seem to have gone off topic
Couldn't have said it any better I didn't see MOTD but I heard about the hypocritical comments. Hahaa quality!
I honestly don't see the problem with it. It is not damaging to the club and is only cringe worthy because of how American it is. Lawro as been there and done it so it won't be of great interest to him, plus he is a prick anyway
The droopy faced twat only got his job on MOTD because of his partnership in the Liverpool defence with the sublime Alan Hansen(who gives us constructive criticism). Bill Shankly might have not been happy with many things that have happened at the club since his death, but one thing is for sure if he had still been around since Lawrenson started his job on MOTD he'd have bollocked him for using his name to score cheap points against LFC and pilloried the droopy gobbed **** for slating us at every opportunity. This is where 'Lawros' heart truly lies. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opi...on-of-great-British-bosses-article736161.html
Don't mind Lawro; certainly don't care enough about any pundit to post abuse about them... But I disagree with him here. His goatee is nice though.
perhaps lawro is jealous. if this were done in his time he would have gladly participated. poor, poor lawro.
Lawrenson has always had the knives out ever since he was denied a job at Anfield - basically because he's ****ing useless.
Well don't spell that frenchie crap over here! progamme, see, we simply things make things easier for the common man.
