He is my number 1 choice if the manager does decide to reitre next season, he's played for us and also he knows the club inside out, did he win a premier league winner's medal with us because i read an old interview from 2001 on the United website last week and he said he would reitre after the 01/02 season ended but i don't know if he carried on for another year.

If he performs at AV like he did at Norwich your next manager could well be Paul Lambert if Fergie stays for another 3+ years.

Can't help but think Lambert is another Owen Coyle, 2 years ago he was the 'obvious' candidate to replace Wenger!

Holding my powder dry for the minute, but might have a few quid for Villa to go down

Having supported a club managed by Lambert I can assure you he is no Owen Coyle - a very clever and calculated man. Very ambitious too. I just get the feeling he has jumped from Norwich too soon and to a club not in a good place but with that said can he really do any worse than last season with AV? Considering how he left us and my dislike for AV I'd love to see them go down but with the right backing I can see them challenging the top 7-8 within 3 years and I think PL knew he needed to do a good job at a bigger club than us to be considered for a top job.
