summary for those who haven't got 30 mins to spare (luckily work is quiet for me): - knows that we'll be figured out this season so wants to build on a plan B and C - Joe Allen - there's no update on the clubs statement. He's with GB and they'll speak to him when he's finished on the Olympics. - wants a squad of 22/23 players - is giving everyone a chance to show what they can do on the tour as most games last season were played by about 15 players - giving everyone 45 mins in each game for last 2 games and against San Jose some may play 70 mins or so. Then the tour party will have played 90/100 mins each - thinks MLS is a good competition but still in its infancy. Is a good set-up and thinks it will go well given the youth coming through. - Danish football - don't have enough Danish players playing at the highest level compared to the past nothing to be scared of in the interview. Think we'll see some players shipped out who don't show the quality on tour and some La Liga players in. Assume that a lot of our youth will be going out on loan to get 1st team experience.
Enjoyed that. Laudrup came across very well and mentioned signing another few players, possibly. This goes along with my theory that he wants to build this team in his own image as soon as possible. These are likely to come from La Liga. I bet he's already got an idea of who to ship out. He mentioned the squad size being 24-25 which has gone up a little from his original estimation of 23. (That's my recollection anyway). Also interesting that "nothing concrete" has happened in relation to Allen. So much for the speculation spread across this board. Good stuff.
Mr.Laudrup is a very intelligent, articulate individual. He is very comfortable with his fame and makes no attempt to talk down to his interviewers. A most impressive interview,by a most impressive person. I really like this man,and hope that he can bring some stability and success to The Swans',we deserve it. Thanks for the podcast, swanee. Great work. ...
Absolutly fantastic interview, makes you wonder why the hell we have to put up with Talkshite radio !! the 2 guys interviewing were the first two ive ever come across that actually asked proper questions and were well researched in knowing about our History and style of play with the spanish influence of Bauza, pintado etc. Micheal Laudrup did a great job too, there seems to be no big time charlie about him wha tso ever which is so refreshing in this day and age,and he was a player that could easily be placed in the top 5 of all time!! When the interviewer asked him a question regarding his talent and the fact he was one of the greatest to play the game and how does he transfer his knowledge to lesser players he just kinda avoided talking about himself and said its important to remember that you cant expect any player to go out and play like messi or ronaldo as induvidual skills are just that! ML was very down to earth and seemed to be very humble, which with his backround is a very good combination to have as a coach. A great listen and it is quite heartning to hear a manager speak honestly and without spouting bollocks, 10/10 for the interviewrs who were also very very good and talked about the swans like they been watching them for years! very impressive
I saw a team in the U.S that if we get the right couple of players can hold our own with no problem. we are lacking big time up front and thats all that is missing, Mr laudrup is not a manager that will play the lone striker all the time and will play two up front depending who we are playing from time to time and that is good news. What this trip has shown him is we have quality in the side and he has many players that can do a good job if called upon. he will also have seen that the finishing up front is below the standard that will be needed if we are going to score more than one goal because the chances that went begging in both the games i saw were dreadful and must be rectified before the season starts,.....Im sure we will be bringing in a couple of strikers in the next couple of weeks as thats all that is missing from being a really good side....
exellent interview - like others have pointed out theres no false airs about Mr Laudrup, he comes across very well, very knowledgeable but not condescending or arrogant. only time will tell if he can pass on his vast knowledge and skills playing at the highest level to our players, if he can then we will all be laughing. ps two intelligent and knowledgeable interviewers - incredible!!
The American was very knowledgeable but was really long winded. Took him about two minutes to ask the question. Better than your usual ignoramus though. At least he'd done his research.
Well worth listening to in it's entirety. well researched and with no evasive answers from Mr Laudrup who comes across as a humble guy .The commentators were very generous with their opinions about us ( yet more praise )
