No rumours of any new signings before this one. Looks like it will be an even weaker team without Washington. Meanwhile Wigan have brought in 11 new players, including Ben Amos and Jordan Cousins. Can't see anything other than another defeat. I think we'll be in a relegation spot by 5pm on Saturday. Grim.
Wigan have bought 11 players since we lost Washington to injury? That's what I call power-shopping. Their fans must be royally irked that they're 14th with 4 points, rather than clear at the top with 9 and a hat full of goals. Their useless non-guitar playing owners need to go now.
You know what I mean - they've bought in 11 new players in this window And besides, they'll be on 7 points come 5pm on Saturday
Can't feel any optimism about this game. There's something not right, atm I can't honestly say I like this team. LOve the club, but certain facts don't sit easily. A lot depends on the Innis/Famewo bulwark, but Innis going off at h/t for a 17-year-old albeit a very good one.... hmmmm. MacG in goal doesn't fill you with confidence, and bringing on Watson when we need a goal is poor. Better to do what Bowyer did and not fill the bench if you aren't going to play them. I've been listening to NA's interview and he reminded me a bit of Parky (The lads gave everything).
An apparently weak squad, evidence of which is three poor performances. It doesn't take much to knock the wind out of our sails these days, does it. Without the new regime there would not be a Charlton Athletic FC. Just a closed stadium awaiting demolition and some amateur players ground-sharing at Welling United FC (if they were lucky) or changing their kit in the back of a mini-bus somewhere before playing matches in the 10th tier. Everything that this Club is today - its home, the people it employs, the good work it does in the community, fans being able to buy tickets and come and watch matches - all of that seems to be taken for granted. As though it will always be there, protected by some divine right. Maybe the fans of Bury FC felt the same way. I am more optimistic now than I have ever been since I began posting on Charlton fans' forums back in 2015. Fixing a squad and finding ways to improve our football? Problems that it is an absolute luxury to have in my book. I cherish every walk along Floyd Road now that leads me to the turnstiles of the Valley.
https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/61...dicks-sign-pacey-winger-corey-blackett-taylor Available for the Wigan game apparently.
The Ipswich chairman once said it's only a crisis there if they run out of white wine, so nothing to worry abahrt.
Available is good, but bearing in mind the comment you made about his fitness 'improving' we'll all be mildly surprised I think if he does feature against Wigan. Stranger things have happened I suppose. Not long to wait now...
Busy day as ever on a Saturday... I may not be back online until late this evening. Up the Addicks! Have a good day everyone - don't get too bladdered celebrating your win over Wigan
Match-day, and that sudden inexplicable burst of optimism. As the anthropologist observed, evolution has equipped personkind with the faculty of self-deception. Thank goodness for that.
Football fans in general give my bum a headache. Hopefully we'll get something today and the doom merchants will have a day off. PS Can somebody give me directions to The Valley, it's been a while
