We're being linked with one of Manchester City's youngsters, midfielder Abdi Ibrahim. Apparently us and Wigan are interested and Everton are keeping an eye on the situation. He's 21, 6'2" and a Somlian-born Norwegian under-21 international. He's currently on loan in Norway, where the season is about to finish and knows he won't get any game time at City. That's the extent of my knowledge about him. Can anyone add anything to that? Of course, this could all just be paper talk.
I reckon C58 has a dossier on him. We will then know if he's any good. Was this the same lad that was mentioned before?
Well, I don't think he's going to be the immediate answer to our wish for a forceful central midfielder, although that's where he plays (and models himself as the new Patrick Viera). please log in to view this image He came through the Man City Academy system and in 2010 (at 18 years old) got a 4 year contract, so they obviously thought highly of him. He had a 3 month spell on loan to Sc unthorpe, not long after he played against them in the FA Cup. He then went on a season long loan (from July 2011) to the Erdivise League side NEC Nijmegen but only played 9 games (2 as sub) before they "sent him home because playing in the reserves didn't suit him". The latest loan to the Norwegian side was from July 2012 and he's only played 8 games. Jol of course may see potential that he can work with (and he would cost next to nothing) but I can't see he has the experience to go straight in and fill, say Diarra's position when he goes to the AFC tournament. And, given his age (he was 21 last May), I'm not sure how we're going to give him the game time to get that experience.
David Beckham has just become available. There were very strong rumours two years ago that MAF had him onside (and the No. 7 shirt was kept available), so in our mini midfield crisis who knows !!
There was a contingent of 25 Norweigan guys at the Cottage Sunday who reckon Forren is excellent. They were doing a tour watching Liverpool on Saturday, Fulham Sunday and West Ham Monday - great trip! Seemed to like their pints also.
Precisely my thoughts Bidley. At 21, Kasami was a regular for Fiorentina. Can't see this guy having what it takes to be honest.
Erm, Kasami is only 20, and he only played 14 times for Palermo before he joined us. Think you've got your wires crossed there Bandy!
Sorry! Posted that off the back of a few brewskies! The point still sort of stands though. Palermo are a decent team.
