Just home from the game, listened to radio 5 on way home and flicked over to humberside every now and then. Caught bits of burnsy mentioning a bit more transfer gossip including the swedish bits and apparently dudgeon was at the game. Did anyone hear anything more concrete or what else was said?
I only heard him on the way back. He was on about John Guidetti and Hayden Mullins, just speculation though. A few people I sat with said that they saw Dudgeon but half of them can't recognise our players nevermind Man Utd youth so I would be suprised.
Pearson said in his interview at the end that the dudgeon deal should be done by end of next week, he then said they had other targets lined up but none of them were near completion. In his pre match interview in the week, he said we'd probably sign 4 players, although its fluid regarding players going out, so could be more. Allam Snr was interviewed b4 the game and said there will be money to spend, but theres a limit. I missed the Swedish thing today as I was at the game, I've heard we're interested in one or two swedes supposedly, but was a name mentioned? Also this is probably nothing, but in the concourse at half time, there were a load of south african lads, probably about 16-17, all had city gear on and it seemed a bit odd. It probably doesnt mean out, but wondered if they were on trial with the youth team or something? Dunno if anyones heard out?
Hayden Mullins is a good shout. He's an alright player. For those who told me Sean St. Ledger was a good player, watch Cardiff's winner at Deepdale last week and tell me his involvement in it was the sign of a quality player.
I heard the Allam interview. Didn't he say that half of next season's season tickets profit is already going to the banks due to the previous regime - Unbelievable. Pearson also sounded very sure about signing Akpan. Shame he didn't get on today but I thought Belaid was great when he came on.
Yeah half the money is the banks' already, ridiculous really. The Duffen regime nearly destroyed us, imagine what we could have done if we'd got relegated with very little debt and no players on stupid contracts. Aye Belaid and Devitt both made an impact today. Not sure whats going on with the belaid thing either, if that ten game thing was true that was his 8th appearance today so he can't make the ten. We still havent really seen enough of him in a match situation but his touch is great, compared to say one aaron mclean and hes only had one chance at a freekick, which is supposed to be one of his specialities. If we're not gonna extend his contract seems a bit pointless to bring him on, I think he def has more to offer.
Yes after today I think we should sign him if we can get him on low wages. He didn't give the ball away once today and like you say his first touch is perfect. He needed a run of games and I bet he will come good if he signs.
From the loanees I'd like to keep the following Evans - presume its already a done deal at ã500k Gerrard - although I very much doubt he will be returning Belaid - looks a fair replacement for Koren if the rumours of him moving to Germany are correct I've not seen Akpan to judge him other than selected parts of the DQPR game. Amoo - I don't think he is good enough - he would be second fiddle to Stewart anyway. If the rumours of signing that left back from Man U are correct then I guess we have to rely on NPs judgement for now but he seems highly rated by Man U so looks promising
I'm really, really excited for next season and the speculation over the players we might soon. We've got a sound and healthy structure at the club now and hopefully this will attract some decent talent. It was be interesting to find out how the relegated Premier League clubs fair up. N Pearson fills me with a lot of hope and I'll quote a story from the City Independent site. After the QPR game a group of city fans were sat in a pub in London. In walked Nigel and his family for a quick drink. Nigel had a 20 minute chat to the city fans and left them with the closing line "watch us go next season". Up The Tigers!
Akpan was bullied off the ball too easily at QPR, not what you want from a CM. Amoo had his best game for us today, which doesn't say much, so I'd rather we saved our money for someone else instead of signing him.
If Amoo was a left sided midfielder instead of a right sided one I would be a lot more interested in his signature, but as it is we have right sided midfielders it's a left we need instead of throwing central midfielders and strikers there
