http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...ked-to-ex-wigan-and-chelsea-striker-1-7223400 SUNDERLAND have been linked with a summer move for ex-Chelsea and Wigan striker Franco Di Santo. Reports in the German press today indicated that Sunderland are tracking the £8million-rated Di Santo, who is about to enter the final year of his contract at Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen. Di Santo, who made almost 100 Premier League appearances for Wigan, joined Bremen on a free transfer in the summer of 2013 - after there had been some speculation of interest from Sunderland - and has since netted 17 goals in 44 games in the German top flight. Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Munchengladbach and Wolfsburg are also mooted to be tracking the 26-year-old, with his contract situation potentially prompting a summer move. Lee Congerton knows Di Santo after the Argentine came through the ranks at Chelsea, when the Sunderland sporting director was working with the academy set-up at Stamford Bridge - a route which saw left-back Patrick van Aanholt join Sunderland in the summer. Sunderland will be in the market to boost their attacking options at the end of the season too if they avoid relegation, with only Aston Villa netting fewer Premier League goals than the Black Cats. Meanwhile, Sunderland - along with Leicester, Swansea and Hull - have also been linked with Polish international winger Maciej Rybus. The 25-year-old, who plays for Terek Grozny in the Russian top flight, is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract with the club and has a £2.4m buyout clause. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 193 total appearances 34 Goals 18 Assists 29 Yellow Cards If this is the calibre of forward we are going for and at a price of £8m it shall be another worrying season...
Better than 1 in 2 so far this season(14 in 23). He's only 26. Could be coming of age. Not sure myself. @Gustavo's Gonads ?
Still think I could do a job Funky, like the guy from the Harry Enfield stuff, the ultimate dribbler with a pipe in my mouth..
Milner on a free in the summer and give him the £8 m in wages on a 1 year contract ,about £150,000 a week instead, all depending of course which division we are in.
Actually Di Santo has always been a decent player with nice touch, he just couldn't shoot. 1 in 3 in the Bundesliga, in a poor side, and I'd suggest he's not a bad punt. Wouldn't cost anywhere near £8million.
Thought this would come out. He's been great for Bremen, 13 in the league this year. Including a couple of corkers. The div fans will say ****n di Santo he was **** for Wigan heww. 8m may look steep with him in last year of contract though
