MARK Hughes has revealed Andrew Johnson, Fabio da Silva and Anton Ferdinand will be sent for scans in the coming days, after all three players suffered injuries in the goalless draw against Chelsea. Johnson and Fabio limped off during the first half, whilst Ferdinand â who shone at centre-half in a first-rate defensive display â was forced to soldier on late in the second half after feel tightness in his hamstring. The Râs gaffer told www.qpr.co.uk: âIt was a blow losing two players in the first half, because it definitely comprised us in the second period when I would have probably made changes. âAJ felt something in his knee. We hope heâs going to be okay, but itâs a little bit of worry. âYou need players like AJ in the squad because they give so much. Weâll send him for a scan over the next few days and hopefully heâll be okay.â Hughes added: âFabio has pulled his hamstring and will be out for a number of weeks, which is a blow for us. âAnton felt a little bit of tightness in his hamstring, but having made all three substitutes by that stage he just had to get through the final few minutes.â
Am I the only one who thought Anton should of just been hauled off for the final few minutes yesterday as he could hardly move and was more of a liability to have in the pitch than off it ? Also couldn't those last few minutes of made any injury potentially worse. Saying that it was rather amusing to see Cisse have a right go at Anton for not tracking back, only for Anton to shout back that he could 'hardly ****ing walk'
I thought Johnson was was excellent for the 30 minutes he was actually on so it will be a real shame if he's got a bad one one as we need goalscorers badly. Not so concerned about Fabio as we have cover. Weird that Ferdinand's 'bit of tightness' meant he could barely walk at the end.
Shame if we lose AJ, thought he did really well yesterday when he dropped deeper to link with Genaro & Faurlin.
He should have stayed on, he didnt run but still offered an outlet so we could retain possession. I once did that in the 1st minute and we had no subs, had to spend 89 mins just standing in the centre circle but I still scored a header from a corner so its worth staying on.
This sceanario is why Sparky bought so heavily over the summer...so we can play Cisse, Taarbs, Mackie and Hill when this happens as it always will. Last season it would have been Onesize and No Pulse who would have come in.....Actually it could still be "No pulse" can't it.
Anorak Corner Hughes is reported as saying: “It was a blow losing two players in the first half, because it definitely comprised us in the second period when I would have probably made changes..." 'Comprised' clearly ain't the word (footballers eh?!). Means nothing in that context. So I'm wondering what word he was looking for. Usually when we say the wrong word midstream we get part of it right - but the closest I can find is 'restricted' which is miles away from the word used. Anyone think of a word meaning restricted but sounding closer to comprised?
A header from the centre spot? Your team must have really put the hours in on the set pieces.... Joking aside, it is something that I like to see - players doing their bit despite injury - it shows it's more than a pay cheque to them.
I did move forward for set pieces and I have scored from the centre circle with a 50 yard volley. You only need to see the 1st and last letters of a word and the middle letters in any order to understand a sentence. Jhon Trery is a clmoetpe cnut.
I don't think I can even kick a ball 50 yards! Re. the last point, unfortunately "yes he is" comes out in the same order!!!
You mean to just pull him off and play with 10 men for the last few minutes? Yes, I would've, and made everybody just hold out to the end behind the line. But that's MH for you, not really thinking about his players nor knowing how to reconfigure the defense.
it was with the old heavy mitre balls not the new beach ball type ones they play with today. Keeper did a place kick and I just kicked it right back over his head and it hit the back of the net without touching the ground.
