    No progress with Frank Fielding. Agent understood to be still talking to Derby about remainder of contract there. No terms or medical yet.

    The agent wants derby to pay up his contract so we can sign him on the free. Would wish this deal would hurry up!

    Somehow I can't see Derby paying him a years salary just so they do NOT get a fee from Bristol City I suppose they might at a pinch release him on a free. But I thought we had agreed a fee with Derby for him.

    If a footballer doesn't submit a formal transfer request, they are entitled to the remaining sum of their contract after leaving the club.

    Did Fielding ever put in a transfer request? If not, this is probably the agent and the club playing hardball with each other. It's fully within Derby's right to say "If you don't take a pay cut, we won't sell".
