Just in from a mate of mine who's pretty reliable - apart from the 'Harry for Chelsea' tip he gave me recently (apologies to all those out of pocket on that one...)

"Henderson looking good in training. Unreal Engine. Downing off to look at Joe Cole’s house this avvy (so looks like Cole is off). Gerrard is f****d. Nobody ever had this injury to compare it to, so don’t know how it will get better. Deffo missing start of season."

Good news about Hendo. I feel indifferent about Joe leaving. Stevie G a real worry, though, after all this time. Any other sources out there on Gerrard's progress?

    GKRK.

I don't trust sources. Most of them are about as reliable as sauces.

The only thing I find believeable is the Joe Cole thing,I reckon he's off to Spurs for £6 million when Modric joins Chelsea.

I find Sauces pretty reliable though and think your comment is unfair. :D

Yeah quite a few people on Twitter (where the stupid follow the slightly less stupid) have started mentioning the Gerrard situation last few days. Personally i'm going to chalk this one up to the fact we've made significant transfer movement, most obvious targets have run out for speculation purposes, and the club are saying nothing, so people need something to fill the vacuum left by our £50mil investment.

Gerrard had hinted he would miss the first few friendlies, so has your mate been watching him play and he's literally just hobbling around the pitch? Or is this word on the grapevine?

To be honest Kenny probably doesn't mind, means he will have one less midfield headache and can delay breaking the news to Gerrard he is no longer on corner-wasting duty

You're completely right! I find Brown sauce and Tomato sauce are quite reliable, unless of course you buy Tesco's own brand and then you don't know what you're getting.

Ok some Sauces are unreliable. I think the guys at HP will have a better idea on transfers this season than caughtoffside though.

They are the Houses of Parliament sauce, so maybe they've been buddying up with Murdoch, who in turn has hacked Kenny's phone, and has thus released sensitive information related to the whereabouts of our new leftback #topicalsaucejoke

Do you ever have those moments when you really regret starting a thread....?
Guys, I did put the word 'news' in quotes on the header. Still, I love the idea that everyone's fully bought into the concept of Downing going house hunting this afternoon. I feel fully vindicated.... ;o)

(BTW. I really like 'fancy' sauce...)

    I always check the source.

I need to know if the signals coming from a microphone, a wav, an mp3, the A/V sockets, a Line Out........

Could we just widen this debate slightly further to 'condiments'. In no particular order:

    HP sauce
    Heinz tomato ketchup
    Heinz salad cream (sod mayonnaise)
    Colman's English Mustard
    Sarson's malt vinegar
    Lurpak butter
    Salt
    Pepper.

    That is all. NO arguments.

My only worry is that the sorts of diversionary tactics suggested above by RHC will divert us all from the important news of the day - will Stuart Downing feel comfortable operating out of Joe Cole's master bedroom? GKRK.

Immaterial. Downing won't buy Cole's house as Downing is hard and Cole isn't.

    What do you feel about:

    1. Tomato and salad cream butties

    2. Corned beef, tomato and brown sause butties?
