Head coach ahead of tomorrow's fixture announcement.
Sean O’Driscoll believes opposition teams will “raise their game” on visits to Ashton Gate in the forthcoming campaign.

As the head coach prepares to sift through his team’s fixture list for the 2013/14 campaign – unveiled tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9am – he began to look ahead to the challenge that awaits his troops in League One.

O’Driscoll highlighted Wolves as the stand out team who will be expected to go straight back up to the Championship, but he believes Peterborough United have a far better chance.

Speaking to bcfc.co.uk, the Midlander said: “The Championship was very competitive from top to bottom and there was very little between the sides.

“In League One it’ll become a little easier in some respects, but a little harder in others. What I mean by that is when teams come to Ashton Gate I’m sure they will raise their game, as they will going to Wolves.

“Wolves have to get promoted. They’ve come down from the Premier League to League One in two seasons; they’re still getting parachute money. They will be expected to go straight back up.

“However, if you look at the three teams who came down from the Championship, Peterborough are probably more ready to play at this level than ourselves and Wolves.

“When you look at the results they had at the end of last season, you’d say Peterborough were unlucky to go down and it’s almost in their DNA – they’ve got a way of playing that has got them promoted from League One twice before.

“It took nine seasons for this club to get promoted back to the second tier last time around. Obviously we don’t want that to be the case again; we want to bounce back stronger.

“We have to find a way – like I said when we walked through the door – for the team to be successful and play in a way that excites the supporters. But that’s regardless of what division we’re in; I’d be saying the same if we were still in the Championship.

“We’ve said a lot of things and tried to be consistent. People will now judge us for what happens, rather than give us the benefit of doubt, which is fair enough.”

I would have said he's got that right.

This time teams are going to tremble when they have to play at Ashton Gate, league one will be easier but harder,“We’ve said a lot of things and tried to be consistent. People will now judge us for what happens, rather than give us the benefit of doubt, which is fair enough.”

SOD's double talk continues to amuse me, roll on the season...

I'm frankly underwhelmed and confused by his continual mixed messages. Is it just a case of saying it's either A or it's B, because any fool can do that ad nauseum
