In Sunday's game it was unfortunate for the Home team to suffer defeat by such a late goal. The Away side had played the better football - not that there was any real quality for the viewing public on 'telly'. The difference was that the away side played with a little more intensity - and in the end bullied their way to victory. The win for the away side does not flatter a much fancied team. Neither goalkeeper was tested too often during a game that perhaps would have been better not televised - to save the viewers from the torture suffered by the small crowd that attended and paid to watch. The away side (and their fans), probably think they are bigger stars, and better players than all their opponents. They expect to win games purely on past reputation - and they may well win plenty of meaningless matches - against small teams- such as their hosts - but the away side is where they are in Football ( not very high up ) - for a good reason - because their players are not really any better than their hosts. The late goal was a little cruel on the Home side - and the Away side can't expect to get lucky all the time. NO - I'm not talking about the Gills v Sheffield Utd game -but the other rubbish that was played out in Slovakia later that afternoon.............. not sure if I've succeeded in making any Gills fan feel better!
