Liverpool have not been in the quater final of league cup for a long time.To be in the quater final this year they need to do it in the hard way,for one important reason- Liverpool have not won at Stoke City since they were promoted to the premiership. As there is always first time for every thing I stronly believe that we can win there.Good luck to our boys.
It's an important game. If we put out a strong team and play like we have been but put the chances we get away, i'm confident we'll progress to the next round.
It would be a good boost to win their. It's never easy and is the sort of game we tend to role over on in recent years.
well if you mean 2007-08 season when cheslea beat us 2-0 then yes our record has been poor. we lost to tottenham (badly 4-2 with rafa dirt sctrach team) lost to arsenal 2-1, again a scratch side... then lost miserably to northampton. in the end if we lose playing our best side to a better side i don't mind but we've thrown the games IMO by picking dirt teams that never met each other before the bus trip. If kenny picks his best team and the muck up... fine. Stoke are far too good at home for us to think we'll win it so if we do well but lose so be it.
Well done Liverpool and in particular Suarez who found the back of the net - and not just once! If he can remember how he did it, the season is going to look happier for you than it dad say 4 days ago
great for liverpool, great for suarez. my worry is that for how long will suarez continue to carry liverpool? i wish the team be strengthened with top quality players around him else i see him leaving the club very soon especially if we can't win any silverware or qualify for champions league.
Bellamy will give him good service and chip in with goals throughout the season if he gets a regular run out. Based on Saturday I would like to see Liverpool play that system more often but need to shore up at the back to make it work well.
as above, i'm glad we got into the QF which i highlighted above as being when chelsea beat us so lets hope for a home tie i nthe enxt round. traore is right everyone is mssing easy chances but hey, if we settle the team odwn and take the punishment (which draws i nthe league are) then the guys i nthe side will get better. Suarez will miss chances cos he takes them ealry and on instinct. carroll will only take chances if he's played and improves his sharpness, particulalry on headers... it was plain as day v stoke he was out of practice.
I'm not sure how long it takes a player to get sharp and be able to do basics such as control and pass. Carroll is clearly out of his comfort zone. Even his heading is poor now.
It's amazing how a lack of confidence and pressure can affect a player, you dont become a hopeless player overnight.
I think Kenny is playing it wrong - Carroll is still a youngster in my eyes and I think we're rushing him (probably because of his price tag). I see him in the same bracket as Henderson i.e. shouldn't be starting every game, bring him on as an impact sub, play in the Carling Cup matches. I think when people see that Carroll isn't starting as much and we're not relying on him as our number 1 striker, it will relieve some of the pressure from Andy. To be fair to Kenny, Carroll isn't starting as many games as he was so I sense that Kenny is trying to bed Carroll in slowly rather than shoving him straight into the team.
About Carroll. I'm behind all of our players and would never gratuitously have a go so this is not a dig- just my assessment of the situation. No-one is suggesting Andy is a bad player, just that he may not fit into the system that works best for us. I hope he comes good, but we can't afford to miss opportunities and drop points trying to accommodate someone because we payed a lot of money for him and we want him to succeed. Unfortunately, at a top club in the modern game players have to grab their opportunities when they can. He won't get too many chances, so he has to start showing that he is the right man for the job. I'm sure he has the potential to be a great striker, I just hope he starts to realise that potential soon or his chance will go.
