Alright chaps just wanting your opinions

looking at the team that started last season compared to what we could put out at Liverpool on the 13th of August...

    Last Season

    Mignolet
    Onuoha-Bramble-Mensah-Richardson
    Elmohamady-Henderson-Cattermole-Malbranque
    Campbell -Bent

subs: Da Silva, Bardsley, Carson, Riveros, Zenden, Waghorn, Welbeck,

    Now

    Mignolet
    Bardsley-Bramble-Ferdinand-Richardson
    Larsson-Gardner-Cattermole-Sessegnon
    Wickham-Gyan

subs: Elmohamady, Westwood, Colback, Riveros, Malbranque, Cook, Ji

Turner and Gordon likely to miss start of the season
Meyler and Campbell not back until New Year at the latest according to Brucie

IMO it shows we need another 4 or 5 in because arguably the team that started the opening game last season is better than what we could put out now.

Would prefer a better center-back pairing.

I think you need a cracking centre half. Ferdinand isn't good enough. Obviously you are going for the Man Utd lads but they clearly don't want to come.

I think last seasons team looks better tbh, Larsson just doesn't do it for me. I would put Elmohamady there.

Don't want to be negative but we've not strengthened enough if Ferdinand and Richardson are both starting for the opening game.

This might be controversial but would anyone else pick Colback over Catts?

thats what I am trying to prove with this article that we need more than only 3 as some are saying

4players who'm 3 played big parts for us last season have returned onloan, Zenden has gone aswell as Bent and Henderson with Angeleri and Riveros also looking to leave our wafer thin squad.

we need another 5 maybe 6 IMO as the squad is way to short of personel

Quick question lads and then continue. Any of you aware of Liam Mars in your youth team? He is captain of one of the youth teams.

Think he was mentioned on here a few months ago because someone was pals with him. Beyond that I've heard less than nothing about him mate!

    I disagree.
Bardsley was a revelation last year. Gardner is better than Hendo and Sess is going to have a huge year.
Add to that the bench looks far stronger.
Even with two months of the transfer window to go. We are looking good.

**** me Poolie, Brucies bad enough, a whole team out and a whole team in, and still we will win nowt, no progression as a team, we have to build. we aint got Chealsea money, the more you want six or more, the price of entry goes up.

I asked the same question a while back and you replied, looked him up on youtube, got a long ways to go, but with luck fingers crossed, sent the vid to folks in America, they were well pleased.

Aye he's a mate of mine. Was just wondering if anything had been mentioned about him. Him and his dad are die hard Newcastle fans but he would love to make it with anyone.

Yup. JC is gonna provide SAFC with 10 years of superb service. New scholesy imo. If he can get fit I would have D.meyler before catts as well. Not knocking catts mind, love his attitude etc but reckless.

Am just saying mate with all them players who will of moved on this year, we had a wafer thin squad last season, this year we will have even less by the looks of it and don't forget Gyan and maybe Elmo will be off to the ACN

5 for me - Welbeck, O'Shea, Brown, Roger Johnson and a top quality CM (wouldn't say no to Cana again if he fancies it! Ok not top quality but great fun to watch!)

If Man City grow up I would also happily take Onuoha off their hands for 5mill(ish)

Add them hypothetically our team is (Westwood would be our number 1 IMO)

    Westwood

    O'Shea - Bramble - Johnson - Bardo

    Sess - Gardner - Catts - Richardson

    Gyan - Welbeck

Subs - Mignolet, Elmo, Onuoha, Colback, Ferdinand, Larsson, Brown, Wickham, Jet Ji, Malbranque (Pick 7)

Injured - Gordon, Turner, Frazier Campbell, Meyler

There's 26 but (correct me if Im wrong) Wickham, Ji, Meyler, Colback, Mignolet and Welbeck are all under 21 so don't count

This means considering the ACN we should be looking at: DJ Campbell and possibly Gibson to finish the squad off.

So further signings IMO total 6/7 (all this assuming we sell Riveros and Angly-Fairy)

So my first statement was the realistic target (5) and my second would be ideal (Onuoha confused me sorry lads)

I like this and our defence looks so much stronger, I wouldnt mind a left back but there just isnt any about within our price range who fit the bill. Not sure with Richardson on the left, I would want a new left winger but other than that its not too shabby.

We will see more in. Welbeck, Oshea, another CF and a centre back at least.

We will be stronger come the start of the season.

Bruce knows we need people in which is why he is getting his business done now.
