Three successive 'must win' games, three successive defeats. Two successive home debut red cards. 'Team bonding' trip and we play like perfect strangers with clear disharmony in the team. Spineless, gutless and seemingly in total disarray. We have 12 games to go and half of them against the big six, even looking optimistically the signs are bleak. I now have no doubt the game is up and we will see us gradually sink to the bottom of the table as others around us with experience of these situations eke out results when least expected. What concerns me is that if this lot do go down there will be no quick return, there is no team spirit, there won't be a lot of quality as the loan players won't stay and the 'names' have seen their best days and, to cap it all there is no quality coming through from the youth set-up. I certainly wouldn't back this team against any of the current top six in the Championship and you can bet Warnock's Leeds will be in the top four next season. Anyone who thinks relegation will produce another season like last season will be sadly disappointed, it shows what an amazing achievement last season really was and how our chances were sabotaged by those mercenary ****s cashing in when the team investment should have been the priority. I can't remember feeling this low since that awful game at Forest a couple years ago, to think we're heading back to that again...
Yes,agree we are heading back there but I feel a lot more positive about our position as a club than I did when tango and cash were involved.
Can't really disagree with a lot of that. Head says we're going down.....BUT we must fight on in the hope that there are 3 worse teams than us!! Unlikely at the moment, admittedly!
I didn't post last night as I was so exasperated after seeing the match and thought I'd have felt better this morning, but I actually feel worse today, it's almost like everything we do is backfiring on us. I can see why MH says things are conspiring against us and we're now in a nosedive that will be difficult to pull out of. My biggest concern is what happens at the end of the season...
There are a certainly a lot of negatives to be dealt with here. Not least the player wage bill that was already big but which has recently been notched up significantly. When these contracts are up in three years time where will we be? I also think that back in January TF moved from a conservative approach on growth to a taking a big risk to keep us up this year and pushing the club on sooner rather than later. I personally supported that gamble as there is no guarantee about when a relegated club could ever emerge again from the lottery that is the Championship. And unlike many other ambitious clubs we are in the chicken-and-egg situation of needing success to rebuild infrastructure but not having the infrastructure to ensure success should we go down. But it does now look like this is going to back-fire big time. I still hope and pray that somewhere in the background the Mittal's have taken us to their hearts and will still want to fund a longer term project.
I've seen suggestions from some of you lads of huge salaries (£80k for Barton? £60k for Zamora? etc) are these really true? I do think you are in serious danger of going down I'm afraid - which does give you 4 years of parachute payments, but if you have a huge wage bill, that still looks dangerous as a business proposition. I can't see SWP, BZ and JB for instance, volunteering to tear up their contracts or another prem club offering them that sort of deal?
To be honest, signing Barton was a big mistake. He's got no pride in playing for QPR and he is certainly not captain material. It's too late now, but you'd be much better off shipping him out and playing someone from your promotion year.
I think one thing good about him is that he actually does work hard, he puts in more effort than most, well shown at the Blackburn game...
I've just seen there is a 45 post thread on Barton, so my opinion is hardly controversial! I don't deny that Barton has some good attributes, at least on paper. But football is a team game, and the other QPR players don't seem to follow his lead at all.
Hi Sooperhoop, Must agree with you dear friend! I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I know a lot of people did not like NM but he gave them guts thats how came up last season. I think I can not face another season in the Perm; I though I would not say that but it is the Truth! I feel so sorry for all our loyal fans who always seam to take the blunt of all this!I think I will call it a day and support a local team over here in Portugal, even the kids play better football the this team at the moment. Good luck to you all dear fans. James Trew Portugal.
