Looking at the replays my take is that Kasper's header did indeed cross the line ... but all credit to Wood for following it up and winning the 3 way aerial battle ... because neitherr the ref or lino had, in act, given a goal ... and robbed might we be feeling now if Wood hadn't gone for it etc?
pleaed for Chris Wood. He is desperate for a run in the side but not been able to due to the success of Vardy/Nugent. His chance will come at some point though, maybe when Vardy is suspended.
Heard on the radio this afternoon that the Football League had 'clarified' the situation and officially ratified the goalscorer as Chris Wood ....
I know the goal as to be credited to Wood for now, since the ref didn't award it until Wood put it in, but doesn't it have to go to the dubious goals panel?
Whoever officially scored doesn't matter Us City fans will always remember last night as a boring game where Kasper Schmeichel dug us out of the **** at the end. One of the most surreal moments as a City fan last night at full time was the whole stadium chanting "Schmeichel" for his goal and he was still gutted we didn't win Kasper is clearly very highly rated, loved and respected by us lot that's why it meant so much to us that he claimed the goal
Nope - apparently neither the ref or lino had awarded / signalled a goal until Wood put it in ... so there is nothing dubious ... if Wood had not put it in then we might well not have 'scored' ... from the replays it looks as if they got it wrong ... but this is not a case of establishing the identity of a player who might have touched the ball last on its way into the net ... in their view Wood clearly headed the ball into the net after it had come back off the cross bar (via the ground)
Yes of course, they can't give a goal that the ref didn't give. That would set a very dangerous precedent!
Don't think it will be "remembered" for long though Proud, all will be forgotten in a few week when we are all celebrating
One thing stands out ... Kasper had once chance and hit the target with it ... he should coach the bloody forwards during heading practice at least
He scores when he wants! He scores when he waaannts! Kasper Schmeichel! He scores when he wants! ... oh ... Chris Wood scored ...
I remember last season against Leeds he came up for a corner. He attacked the ball really well, caused chaos and Michael Keane scored Why dont the outfield players attack the ball like him?
