Hello all. A question I have often wondered: how many people here know Jon Champion's MOTD commentary to the last league game at The Dell against Arsenal basically by heart?
Nope.....half piss*d when I was at The Dell......well piss*d when MOTD was on........sorry Marsden, having a grumpy day but I must have seen/heard commentry at some point....don't no commentry off by heart though........DO REMEMBER THOUGH.....Le Tiss nicked it off Marsden to score winner!!!!
It was a good day. I videoed MOTD at the time and often watched it back in the months afterwards, but haven't done for years. Then I found this link on YouTube randomly and it brought it all back.
Only bits of commentary I know off by heart are... "McCalliog, through to Stokes who's onside.... 1-0! and Southampton go mad!" and "It's the last knockings now, forward by Worthington, Armstrongs got Wallace and Moran on the other side and Moran is coming in!!.... and Southampton has snatched it"
Loved seeing the MOTD video. I was there and will never forget that feeling when the Tiss goal went in. Arsenal had a team back then.
the only times ive seen this match are on the dvds made by saints, which have commentary by the saints tv people i think.
"McCalliog, through to Stokes who's onside....maybe offside??? Who gives a F**k....its still 1-0 and Southampton still go mad!".....came out of Wembley that day....Man U fans crying.....will never forget that!!
WOW! what great memories seeing that! AND WHAT A PLAYER! As my username says, "there is only one no 7"! I hope Lambert appreciates how lucky he is to wear that number! No7
Over 10 years ago but one of the most memorable Southampton moments and a goal celebrated like no other. Happy to be one of the 15k and in the Milton Road End to see it fly in. One of my favourite bits of Commentary also involved Le Tiss and it was by John Motson after another goal from Matt. "Le Tissier!! It's his day again and there's nothing in the world that Everton can do to stop him." Great line from a match in 95 I think when Matt was arguably the best player in the world.
Both brilliant. I did a sad TV quiz when ITV digital was going and was asked for my favourite saints goal: Steve Moran 1984, Fratton Park is always the answer.
i got the commentary as my text alert tone on my phone sends shivers down my spine every time i get a message its amazin.
