I thought that in light of the shocking news that I would share this email with you all, I never break confidences, but I hope Potts would both understand and forgive me, I think it gives a wonderful memory of a great guy.

    Re: email address
    Hi Nick,
No problem, the late reply lol...
Weddings come first mate, and of course the family!
Just about used too not having too work Nick, now five weeks since I officially retired. Love the idea of the Med and the othre exotic locations for work Nick.
We have always loved Majorca mate. Went there again mid June too end of July. Luckily for us, my Uncle owns an apparment just outside of Camp de Mar.
Very nice place, top of a hillside great views of the Med and ya really can't beat it. As you may well know Nick?

    Nick,
At the minute I have too keep this from the guys/gals o not606 but get this mate..
Remeber Terry Conroy was ill some time ago. I have played bowls for almost 50 years now, crown green of course. Well, I know Harry Burrows too chat too but not that well. He's a lifelong friend of a fellow team member, bowler at the local club. Here in the Westlands.

Well, John my mate and Harry were down at the Brit a month or so back. Wanted too change their seats etc. Whilst there, the one the only
T.C. was also there, he still works for the club as you may well know Nick?

Seem's that, since his operation Terry has too exercise daily and my mate suggested a game of bowls along with Harry, he plays now and again.
T.C. asked John if he knew anyone who could show him the ropes, rules ect, let him try out the game for a couple of days.

Nick, KEEP THIS QUIET BUT, I'm only meeting T.C. in a week or so, date too be arranged and will show Terry our club, have a game etc he even offered to buy the first pt too!
I tell you mate, I'm bloody well and truly made up about this. Best bit is, T.C. asked if he could bring along Jimmy Greenhoff..
TWO of my all time idols mate and I get too show them how to play bowls.. bloody hell and all that, can't wait Nick. My missus say's will you wear you Stoke
top Steve? doh.. nope I won't. But, will be sure to get Jimmy's autograph too Nick, the only on of the winning 72 side I don't have wow!

Only found out on Saturday Nick, PRICELESS eh? Will let you know, when we do meet up Nick, the first to know mate.

    Take care Nick

    Ya mate Pott's

Ricc - the email was dated last Friday!!
That's what makes it even sadder eh??

One thing that sums up the guy and his family is that during that terrible time they thought about letting us know on this board.

  12. Thanks for sharing that Nick, great character. Only wished I had met up with Potts as we had planned last season to share a pint. He was working late that day unfortunately (home against Newcastle) and so went straight to the game. A legend and a gentleman, no doubting it, RIP Potts, you will be missed big time mate.
