Well as you know the Williams is currently being demolished, and as I was having breakfast this morning, it popped up on our local news that today is the day the rest of the Williams will be demolished! They didn't mess around with that, felt like it took them ages to get rid of the Eastend. Saw this picture yesterday and it made me realise how not only is our south stand big, or the Williams now looking small but it made me realise just how big this new Williams is going to be! as on the videos we've seen, it makes the South stand look average. Will be interesting to watch this one be built over the next 12 months.

Going to be a stadium to be proud of...and my hopes of a team to go with it.

Sat in the actual Grandstand part just a few times. back in the days of the standing Enclosure below it.
Game I remember best is a 2-1 FA Cup win over Bolton in around 1977/78

I stood on the terraces in front of the WIlliams a few times and if there were empty seats, we'd hop on the wall and spend the second half in luxury! Of course, those were the dark days following the slippery slide from Division 1 to Division 4.......

Not sad to see it go. It just shows how antiquated our ground was. The new stand is going to be very impressive indeed. We'll all be whining about the tiny Atyeo then......

I was driving past earlier and took a pic, work is certainly being done today but whether or not it will be completely demolished today I don't know, seems a lot still left to do.

We will have a stadium that more than meets our needs and just hope I can make a trip over to watch a game when it's finished.

Looks like you drove in a bit, I just pulled up on the double yellow lines and quickly whizzed back out again. Should of put my window down before I took the pic, rain kind of ruins it!

Watched the rampaging 70s from halfway up the Williams with me dad - so many memories I couldn't list them.
Saw some of what followed in the 80s also, but its the Gow/Ritchie era that sticks in the mind

Did that for loads of league games in the late 60's and early 70's and stood there for the LC Semi v Spurs

I was in the cafe today by Ashton Gate and was chatting to some electricians sat next to me, they were telling me how they are being offered 12 hours days, and 7 day weeks to get finished in time so I gave them a bit and said "better get back to work then boys or you will never finish!"

They all looked at each other and laughed, one showed me a photo of the interior of the south stand and said Do you reckon that will be finished in 4 weeks?

    No was my honest answer!

I suspect that like World Cups and the Olympics they'll have people working 24x7 to get things ready

Chatted to security on Sunday and he said there was no way it would be ready in the required 2 weeks. Inside is just an empty shell apparently.
Have to say, the South and Dolman stands look immense - at least from the outside.
It's going to be three quarters of a stadium to be proud of
