Geez Louise. I think we all need a break from the constant, circular debates on here. All I'm hearing is unending speculation on who is the fattest, Steve Bruce or Tom Huddlestone? Who is the boringest, Steve Bruce or Tom Huddlestone? And, of course, who has the nicest voice, Steve Bruce or Tom Huddlestone? It seems we'll never get an answer, so I propose a distraction - music talk. While you were all nodding off into your Sudokus at Charlton yesterday, I was cruising the dusty 2nd hand music shop scene in Hull, like a possessed punter, looking for cheap surprises. I ended up looking in GO Records on Cott Road and CEX in Prossie Cenner - Disc Discovery was closed. Bought a few things, I'll list them - Iggy Pop - Lust For Life Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Boatman's Call Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Ice Cream For Crow Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves The Fall - This Nation's Saving Grace Portishead - Portishead Portishead - Dummy Young Fathers - Dead I'm back on the hard stuff - physical albums. No more itunes mp3s, my lust for albums has been reinvigorated. So, what I want to know is - what was the last album(s) you bought? Not just mp3 or owt. Do tell.
Chemical Brothers - Born in the Echoes, a few weeks ago. Only time I buy a physical CD is when they release an album, so about once every 4-5 years.
Can't remember the last album I bought, would have probably bought Faith No Mores album if the likes of Spotify weren't available, or the internet itself for that matter
I have the lot. The latest one is reasonable - a couple of great tracks, but also a couple of fairly rubbish ones. My favourite album of theirs remains Surrender. I wish the KC still played Galvanise at 2:50pm every Saturday. Brilliant build-up track.
Have you ever tried Dove house on Bev rd Party? They have loads of vinyl, most of it crap, but I've found lots of good stuff at £1 an Album. I only ever buy if the vinyl is in mint condition. Vinyl is nicest way to listen.
Thunder's last album Wonder Days. Still doing quality music, shame quality music isn't in the charts these days!
Remember seeing them at Hull City Hall....classic gig...they came onto New York New York except changed it to In Ull in Ull....Danny forgot the words halfway through one song and they restarted and...made him sing it with his jeans rolled up around his knees and a knotted hanky on his head....Happy Days.....don't get that on Mp3...
The new Fratellis one. Haven't listened to it yet but saw them live the other night and they were ace.
I'll try to get RH to pop along for a bevvy as well. I won't be at Rochdale I shouldn't have thought, but I'll have a Nandos anyway.
I saw them play Bradford St Georges Hall in 92, was a decent show, was more into thrash metal at the time though
We can do.....then maybe a pint before you head home and I stagger off on my Zimmer frame to the game
