We are in the final run for this wonderful season. Never had we had such a change in fortunes. Our last 10 games present lots of opportunities to take points of others. My predictions Lincoln (H) W Portsmouth (H) D hardest to predict Oxford (A) D Plymouth (H) W Cambridge (H) W Shrewsbury (A) W Rotherham (A) L Wigan (H) D Crewe (A) W Charlton (H) W Gives 21 pts. And 77 total. The realist in me says 78 pts needed for Playoffs this year, we miss out. The optimist says 77 is the target, we are in top 6!

Looks like we’ll have to finish the Season without Edmundson. George Edmundson: Ipswich defender out for 'foreseeable' future after suffering ankle injury https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60713043 Let’s hope Burgess can step up to the mark.A big shame as a settled defence is a great starting point for any successful side. Speedy recovery George.
If the key players are not risked and their replacements do step up and play the McK way, I see no reason why we shouldnt do well tomorrow. I would like to see Aluko and Celina behind the front men again. Be it Chaplin, Jackson, the Pig, Norwood who knows! And Bakinson grows with every game. I stay with 2-1!
I expect Burgess will thrive in a back three as he did so well in that set up with Accrington. It’s one of our highest level B options, along with Aluko for any of the two inside forwards we deploy.
Wow. I don’t think we will win our next three on the bounce but if we do then we will still be in the hunt.
Beat Plymouth, Bonne recovers his form, and then the next two, will give us an outside chance. Much depends on others dropping points. But tbh, I am looking frwd to next season.
With Plymouth winning again tonight, pols like its 6 teams battling for two places, with us being in the worst position... Role on next season in L1 by thy looks of it
Plymouth result tonight is irrelevant - we weren’t catching them anyway. Oxford are all but out of our reach too. So I see it slightly differently - Sunderland and Wycombe don’t have the form so they will have to have a big turnaround and even with Portsmouth’s game in hand they have as much to do as we do. That leaves us having to equal Sheffield Wednesday’s results plus two wins and that’s where I think we’ll fall short. So it’s more a question now of how players react to the pressure being off - are the shackles off and we score lots of goals or do they take their foot off the pedal? If it’s the former and we play more freely then is not impossible that we’ll win all our remaining games. Maybe McKenna will have an eye on next season and start to experiment. Whether we have any chance also depends on how other sides like Sheffield Wednesday react over the final games. There’s every chance that recent trends will not apply between now and the end of the season.
Thanks Redruth, with that kind of exhilerating performance, we can beat anybody. I have checked my morning tea leaves and this Suffolk Mystic Meg now predicts we win all our remaining games, except a draw at Rotherham. Will others drop points, well all the bigger beasts above us play each other over 2 crucial week-ends. It's going down to the wire, how exciting and we are all loving our footie again. I still think we will just miss out by a point or two. Special day for Paul Mariner too. He would have enjoyed that game, and deffo scored a goal or two!
The praise just keeps on coming: https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/oxford-boss-heaps-praise-on-itfc-8786962 Thank you Gamechanger and KMc for giving us back some pride!
Just looking at what's going on around the club, the stadium looks better, the events which are being put on on a matchday, the ticket incentives...we really have been a sleeping giant and its great to see that after 15 years of nothing there's still a huge engaged fan base....I've said it before if I'd have had my first football experience during the ME era I don't think I'd got into football let alone follow the Town. We really are going in the right direction...I just hope all this is built on good foundations
I first got into football when taken to watch Sir Alf Ramsey's team and have believed ever since! I am astonished that fans who have seen so much dross in last 20 years are still with us. I salute our incredible fans.
I’m seeing a lot of posts on social media of my old school friends going for the first time in X number of years (20 years in some cases) and loving what they see. Who can really blame them? It must be hurting Marcus Evans to see how easy it can be and how quickly it can be turned around if you don’t strangle the club to death.
