Apologies if its been mentioned but who stayed for the lap? I felt gutted at Full time and had no intention of staying to watch it. Just curious to see what others thought For us not to reach 40 points this season its been an absolute shambles and if we stay up we are very very fortunate.
Bit of a **** up by the announcer is you ask me, some players were in the middle of the pitch waiting, some left the pitch, then the players in the middle left the pitch then nothing. silence. everyone started leaving, I thought we weren't getting one so started leaving. halfway out leaving the access tunnel the announcer tells us they're coming back out. Loads of us tried getting back but the angry fans were leaving weather we liked it or not so had no choice but to carry on leaving. ****ing shambles!
Me and the lads were half way down the stairs a millisecond after the full time whistle. They don't deserve any applause for serving up that utter bag of ****e season and tbh, I couldnt give a bollocks who thinks thats wrong. All my instincts not to renew for next season have been verified by the Stoke and Southampton games and I will be happy to take a 2 or 3 month break now until the crap all starts again. PDC has a massive job on his hands and it will be interesting to see how it works out for him over the summer. We are all happy to just see how next season goes before we commit any up front fees. Maybe a 2nd half season ticket but right now I would commit to a free one. This has been one of the worst in my 39 years for the failure to live up to expectation and promise and I've hit the wall. I'm no longer prepared to give blind loyalty where SAFC is concerned and I want to see massive improvement before I get back on the bike. Utter ****e season; utter ****e football; utter ****e end to it all - waiting for Wigan to fail is not my idea of a successful season.
Aye, not long to suffer now. Bit of excitement on Tuesday, a hammering next week and it's all over for another one.
How's this for ya Cest, checking my bank balance the other day and thought hang on that can't be right, logged on and there it is £100 out to Safc first direct debit for next year
Get this season out of the way asap (Hopefully with a Wigan loss tomorrow), and then Di Canio can start to stamp his own authority on the squad for next season..
yes mate the big difference this season was the huge and I mean huge expectations to stabilise our premiership position
Spot on Cest, My delight at a smaller queue through access 11, and a clean run from car park (I was in Roker retail park) to Testo's was the high point of the ****ing season (that's NEARLY true, sadly...)
If Mon had stayed we would already be down by now IMO - PDC for me has done a remarkable job in even getting us to this point in with a shout and thats why I stayed to give my appreciation to him and for the players to give their appreciation to the fans (not a lap of honour as has been suggested by the way). When the players came out The Mig lead them and he was looking around at the stands and to be honest he looked embarrassed as did several others - we hear cries of sign Danny Rose in the summer well he probably found out all about SAFC fans and as such why would he want to come here permanently and indeed why would the mig want to stay. PDC walked at the back of the group and he looked disappointed altho that could well have been with the performance. The announcements and the confusion at the end did not help either. PS and yes I know you pay your money and this entitles you to boo/have scapegoats/leave early/miss the appreciation lap etc.
Well said Penguin, although the players should be embarrassed, to be fair. I think Rose will be staying at Spurs next season anyways, and Mig will be gone as well (Napoli are showing an interest in him, ive been reading it today)
I think the players are man enough to realise that they haven't been good enough and if they didn't understand the fact that the fans are pissed off with a garbage season, hopefully they will be now.
Just posted on a different thread, we didnt win v 11 men until december 11th and finished 3 games against 10 in that time, horrific, no-one can gloss that up surely
I don't think anyone is trying to "gloss over" anything but PDC deserved some applause - I know its hyperthetical but If you take the number of points that PDC has gained (8 from 6 games) and mulitiply that over the season we would have finished in 8th place on around 50 points so surely he deserved a clap at least
