Just noticed talksport are saying we bid £1.5 mil for Lansbury, which was rejected out of hand. I have to say, I think that is almost insulting to Lansbury and Arsenal and I'm not surprised. He must be worth closer to £4/5 mil. Thoughts?
Although it is talksport, and although I do listen to it, they talk a lot of ****e. It doesn't surprise me. I believe we are actively pursuing Lansbury, and I believe he will be at Norwich for the start of the season. And for the fans that are worried our squad is getting too attack heavy, Lambert can multi-task, he has his fingers in many-a-pie don't you worry!
if it is true lansbury is worth so much more, 3-4 million i would say no way will he leave for 1.5 million
We don't know the ins and outs of this. It could be that we have offered them 1.5m where we take him on loan until Jan and if he has been doing well and we think we have a shot at surviving then another 2m to Arsenal and he signs for us. It could be that it is 1.5m with huge add-ons if we survive or he makes x amount of appearences over the season.. Because of the way add-ons and the loan system works these days I pay very little attention to quoted transfer fees. They are only a small part of the story.
A good point Kenny. I think if the total bid including add-ons could amount to 4/5 mil then we would still have a very good deal for a quality prospect. I see the Sun is now reporting it. Hardly a bastion of reliability, I know, but it does sound more and more like we are chasing Lansbury.
I know most bids these days are 'undisclosed' meaning add-ons, appearance details etc remain vague, but how can we offer less for a young gooner who helped us win promotion than for a totally unproven ex-Brighton winger who has virtually no experience in either Champ or Prem apart from a brief spell with Wolves several years ago. No wonder Arsenal dismissed it out of hand. A completely derisory offer - if the figures quoted are true.
If that figure is true, that we offered that little for him, and the player had a cerain amount of say in where he went, wouldn't that make the player question how much we actually valued him, and therefore might dissuade him from joining us?
Absolutely correct Only thing is, we are still relying on the Sun and Talksport for this info, and as stated numerous times before, neither is exactly Mr Reliability.
The only thing I would be tempted to believe in the Sun, would be the date and the price, but even then I'd have slight reservations!
I've just got a feeling it's going to happen... I've also got a feeling Rudd will stay and him and steer will alternate loan deals, just a feeling...

Well, Lansbury just fits. You only have to look at the tweets from pilks and vaughny on twitter to see he'd fit right in with the banter. he's a proper team player, and an excellent footballer. I genuinely he would be in the squad to play down the middle and him and hoolahan would have to fight over it like rabid dogs. Had a good look at Rudd the other day. Looks noticeably chunkier. Not the skinny kid he once was. I'm hoping big things from him and only Lambo and the team know how good he really is. Dint have a lot to do yesterday but commanded the area confidently, doesn't look out of place.
With Fabregas looking odds on to sign for Barca, I wonder if that makes us getting Lansbury a little less likely. Will have to see if Arsenal bring in any other midfielders...
I believe the boss (chairman or someone) said wenger has a "considerable pot" to draw on. With henners approaching 21 will wenger finally buy arsenal some players to try and win a trophy? I think he will. Henri is not ready to take on the hole left by nasri and fabregas. I believe arsenals love of johnny foreigner will be their undoing, and our gain, in this case. Lansbury plays with a fire in his belly like no other player at arsenal but theyd never notice it against some tippy-tappy flair. I believe it will happen, but we'll have to see.
There only seems to be one real obsticle in the way. they may use lansbury as bait for cahill! So if we were to make a move for him and put in a serious offer then we better get are a** into gear and get a move on...
Even better ! ! If we sign Cahill, thereby adding solidity to our defence, then all this ground bait/make weight nonsense goes out of the window.....so we can get Lanners for next to nothing. Woo-Hoo
