One is a proven midfield goals and assists machine throughout the years and continues to be, the other just runs about like a headless chicken on weekly basis.

Never have been impressed by Willian, and his stats (or lack of) speaks louder than words. No room for Lampard in our team? LOLZ.

If we end up losing the title to City, it would be an epic fail on Jose's part
 
Lamps doesn't have legs to play 4 games in 11 days. But that is what he would have expected with us.
In City his expectation is managed - he plays 1.5 games in 11 days (sort of not sure). He gets the odd goal.

Letting him go is correct decision. But City poaching him is not.
 
Willian is basically Brazils equivalent of James Milner. He runs around a lot, and puts in a good shift, but he's severely lacking in footballing talent. You could say the same about Oscar too. :biggrin:

It's all a bit weird with City owning or part owning several clubs and using them to prop up their own campaign. I personally think Frank going was right for Chelsea and right for Frank. Him going to City for fitness before the start of NYC season was also OK. City manipulating to keep him is not OK in my book, he is supposed to be registered as a NYC player and they are the real losers. The NYC fans will take to Frank with baseball bats if he ever has the hide to go there, he has let them and himself down big time.

You say that, but then what exactly is Willians role? If it is to defend, then i'd far rather Mikel. If it is to attack, then his stats don't stack up against Schurrle's. If it is to act as a box to box midfielder, then his stats don't stack up against Oscar or Ramires... In short what's he good for?

Willian versus Mikel (Mikel not as quick and offers nothing with the bal at his feet going forward, all this despite his potential as a youngster)

Willian versus Oscar (Oscar is not a player that gets up and down the pitch easily like Willian does although Willian is not as effective as Oscar attackig wise)

Willain versus Schurrle (Schurrle can't defend, would we really have conceded the late equaliser to City if Willian was still on and picking up the run of Milner)

Willian versus Ramires (This is the closest comparison but Ramires has no technique at all, Willian has a least some and does know how to beat a man one on one with ease, although his end product needs improving)

Also Willian is the quickest over ground in my opinion in our squad barring Hazard so he has that and if Willian's role was to be decided, it is like the jack of all trades but master of none, he can do what Mikel, Oscar, Schurrle, Ramires etc can do, but not as great as each one does their best.

Frankly Ramires, Mikel and Schurrle have had plenty of opportunities, especially Schurrle to oust Willian but has failed every time.

rarely and sadly have to agree with you. fans are fickle and footy fans are not that passionate in the colonies yet.

Depends which colony Stan. 97,000 fans turned out in Melbourne to watch Liverpool v Melbourne last year, and that in a city of less than 5 million. Don't think any PL team has EVER played in front of 97,000 in the UK, there's not even a ground in the UK that holds 100,000. Some of us colonials are very passionate, and I assure you, if Lampard did to any Aussie team what he's done to NYC, he wouldn't last a game .Vila fulfilled his contract with Melbourne City then went to NYC. Obviously he's a man who's word is his bond.

Schurrle's problem though is that as a right footer, Jose likes to play him on the left...which is Hazard's best position.

Willian is certainly not as eye catching as some but he obviously must do something that gets him picked most weeks. It's about the team not the individual, especially with Jose at the helm so his work rate is obviously a big factor and can't just be dismissed.

Did you see Oscar's goal earlier this year which he curled in with the outside of the boot?? If you don't think that takes a great deal of talent, stick to horses!!

Can't argue with you 100 yrs. Willian doesn't do it for me but Jose obviously sees his contribution differently. Oscar is the one who has shown his talent but just can't put together a run of good games, somethings amiss there. And it is about the team, as you say, put out your best 11 not your 11 best.
