Theophane struggled badly and won late on by tko.

Massive blow for Khan. Paid for constant pushing. Especially in the first score card.

I've stayed up all night to watch this fight - and I was a bit reluctant to do so, because usually these fights are walk-overs to build up to other fights with more money involved. At the end of the fight before the scores were read out I was convinced Khan had lost (but less convinced than I was that Manny had lost a few weeks back).

I had this feeling in my gut that once again we would probably have a controversial decision, because money was involved in making it be so.

So how fresh it feels to see the right result come through in the end, how for once the entire sport has not been called into disrepute because we have some potential Mayweather bout on the horizon.

This was the right result tonight, and boxing really needs to get over the unforgiving shame it seems to impose on beaten boxers. Khan should fight again and be given every chance to redeem himself - but next time let's make sure that he doesn't get 5 bums in a row to build up some false sense of superiority before fighting someone good. Hopefully the entire sport can redeem itself further by actually continuing it's new found trend of matching somewhat equal boxers to fight each other.

Very shocked by the result. Khan needs to go back to the drawing board. This was his chance to get closer to that may weather fight but let's be honest, it would be better for him to lose to someone like lamont rather than get demolished by may weather.

    Some key decisions:
The "no knockdown" that the ref somehow missed - 1st round should of been 10-7
Khan's 2 point deductions (rightfully, and they lose the fight for him)
Peterson didn't get a point deduction for his constant low head he kept getting warned for.

Hell of a fight and I hope they rematch asap, I can see Khan winning it.

Mick - Who are these five bums in a row?

Surely you don't mean; Judah, Maidana, Malignaggi. Would give you Salita, but he was #1 contender(amazingly) and calling McCloskey a bum is a bit harsh.

I watched the repeat of the fight this morning and would have to agree with you. i also thought Khan should have won but some questionable decisions went against him.

I too thought Khan had just edged it but it serves him right for fighting like an idiot last night, after round one i thought peterson was gone in round two but then khan stopped doing what he was doing in the first round and once again as his done in his last 3-4 fights instead of boxing him Khan once again decided to get into a brawl, why does he keep doing this? Most likely because he wants to keep proving his got a chin, his a idiot he should of boxed from the outside which was working perfect but instead he decided to keep backing up and backing up and walking onto punch after punch, Khans got a lot of work to do

Well said, he can blame the decision and the ref but at the end of the day he had the skills to knock Peterson out and he ****ed about instead of gettng on with the job

On another note, Seth Johnson beat Ibragimov by tko last night. He can bang, is raw enough but looks a great finisher, even if it did appear slightly premature.

A hard hitting unbeaten American heavy...... interesting times.

He's had 26 odd fights (1 draw) and obviously Ibragimov is the biggest test he's had. He looked crude enough in getting to Ibragimov, but once he had, he took him apart clinically.

He is not young, so he has to be in a hurry to get places. They'll have to match him hard from here on in.
