    Taken from the express....

NORWICH fear they could lose Paul Lambert – but do not expect him to go to Aston Villa.

He is a disciple of Martin O’Neill, who walked out on Villa two years ago.

O’Neill will tell Lambert that his ambition would be stifled by Villa owner Randy Lerner. - Nice one MON <ok>
If Lambert goes elsewhere, I will thank him for the fact that Norwich, my club, ended this campaign 54 places higher than when he took over.
Graham Taylor and Joe Royle took Watford and Manchester City up two divisions in two seasons to reach the Premier League, but were relegated straight away.
Lambert is the only man, so far, to achieve successive promotions to the Premier League and keep his club there. That is the greatest managerial achievement of the modern era. - Fergie, are you reading <laugh>

Situationally, villa just wouldn't make 100% sense yet. It's not quite there yet

Liverpool might turn his head sure but, is he ready for that? Look at Hodgson, I fear for any many that takes over from kenny (very strange fans)

I'm not that worried yet about either, but I am humbled that our achievements are attracting such attention and that lambert is gettin well earned recognition.

though i wasn't there last night, the vibes from the people who went to the POTY last night were all very happy with lambert's demeanor and the way he was laughing and joking with the fans and players suggested moving on was the last thing on his mind. but if liverpool came in for him, that would be a job i think he couldn't refuse.

I hope that PL looks at recent-ish Norwich history and the case of one Mr Mike Walker. Did sterling work getting a squad of decent players punching above their weight and then was lured by a "big" club fallen on hard times with expectant fans but without the funds to alter the team. Result = no success followed by a quick dismissal and no subsequent career.

Why would anyone go to Villa? Fans with high expectations who are quick to turn on the manager, a remote chairman looking to tighten the purse strings who has sacked three in two years, a poor squad with a losing mentality plus you'd have to move near to Birmingham. If it were me it would take one hell of a contract to get me to leave a progressive club going places for a fallen giant on the way down.

I also don't think their fans did themselves any favours on Sunday with their abuse of McCleish in front of PL.

i don't think villa are particularly tempting for any manager at the moment - just because potentially they are a massive club does not mean they are a great option. they are skint and clearly in free fall but lambert's connection with o'neill and what he went through legally with villa means its practically impossible for him to go there. you're kidding me if lambert won't ask his former gaffer, his hero, what he thinks! yesterday when i heard that villa were after him i thought that was to be expected but only gave it about a 10% chance of happening off the top of my head. this morning its down to 1% max.

Agree 100% with the situation regarding MON. He left for a reason Lambert will know about and he is unlikely to take the risk of it happening to him

the legal wrangling between villa and o'neill didn't exactly go well did they! a few media people seem to know exactly what went on but are unable to say at this moment in time but its going to come out one day and it is apparent it was very messy indeed

Morning Guys, I can't get my head round some of the comments regards Lambert moving on, of course he will, but when?.
Whats confusing me are the comments that he will move on to a bigger club, some say Norwich are a big club, so why should he move?, then we get all the rubbish that Holt won't be selected for England because he plays for " Little old Norwich".
Personally i think that Dalglish will move up to director of football (what ever that means) and Lambert will take care of on the field events at Liverpool, if only because they can understand each other.
Well done on your season, go back and you'll see i predicted a mid-table finish.

its all about context monarch. you won't find a single norwich fan who thinks lambert will stay at norwich for life. he'll move on but its about making the right move, thats why villa is such a strange one. as it stands, on may 15th 2012, norwich are a small premier league club with ambitions of europe. aston villa are a bigger club who should have ambitions of europe and maybe better but are on its knees and behind even the likes of norwich in terms of quality. liverpool are only marginally ahead of norwich in terms of league standing but on another stratosphere to norwich off the pitch - bigger than villa too. they are miles off the pace but wouldn't take a great deal to turn around and take towards the top four or five. thats why liverpool would be a great potential move for lambert, villa would be a daft one whilst staying at norwich for a bit longer is the most sensible at this stage. it would be very brave of liverpool to gamble (and it would be a gamble) on lambert based on one premier league season, thats why i'm not convinced they'll go for him, but if they do, he'll go, i'm sure... and we'd ALL understand that. villa however makes no sense whatsoever <ok>
