In today's Sun - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...was-a-c-player-but-I-grafted-for-success.html Some quotes from the article which tell you quite a lot about the type of man he is - âI want winners, I donât want players whose careers are dominated by money,â he added. âThat will come later as a result of success. Like here, we won League One and then the Championship and now those players reap the reward." âI like hungry players. Thatâs what Iâve got. They never ask for anything and they never throw in the towel." âWhen Norwich went up to the Championship everyone was telling me to buy Premier League players."
what a brilliant interview. a man with his head screwed on the right way. no wonder he never has, and never will, signed prima donas. only players who are prepared to put in a shift will make it with him. please, please, please stay at carrow road for many more years sir paul.
The more i here him say, the more i believe in him as a person and I'm a pretty cynical person. He seems to be such a genuine guy I think he's going to have a massive career as manager and with some club, some day I reckon he will get a new champions league medal.
Knew there was something special about this guy when he managed Colchester and he led them to a 7 - 1 success over you guys, then took you guys over and got promoted comfortably as Champions.
I have no problem with his philosophy in taking on board young hungry players, and fully accept the lack of primadonas and mercenaries is a good thing and it will hopefully stand us in good stead and we will retain our PL place for years to come but would ask the following question..... Realistically, how far can any club go keeping to that philosophy? I do not expect us to challenge for a European place. I would still expect to our team to be considered among the favorites to be relegated every August. I would hope the team would make the pundits that predict relegation for us eat their words every May. Basically what I am saying, is under the current regime I would be content with a mid table position every season while the bank balance looks more healthy every year. That is not meant to be a criticism on PL or how he runs the team, compared to recent years it's more than enough to keep me happy.
Yes, but the danger is that you become Everton, or, at a slightly lower level, Fulham. And, at a certain point, if you keep treading water, sooner or later you drown (look what happened to us in the Championship). Btw, hi Thai, nice to have someone who is online here at the same time as me. It's generally a desert when I get on here and I'm sure it's the same for you.
That is what I was hinting at although I think most of us would agree it would be a sad day if we do start to sign big ego's. Hi Vietnam (where in the country are you? You cam PM that if you do not want it to be common knowledge). I normally end up talking to a Cardiff fan in Bangkok as no-one else is around
I'm in Thurnby, England just outside a sh*thole called Leicester just in case you wondered. Goodnight both!
Signing good young players is one of the reasons Tottenham is doing so well now. Good even great players don't have to come with an ego and playing as a team is always better than talented individuals. Look at United v City this year, city are far better on paper but united play much better as a team. There is no upper limit on the philosophy, our upper limit is financial.
I saw him play, Crap he was not,you dont win champions league with crap players, top bloke and will be a top manager, if there's any justice he will be LMA Manager of the year,he should be premier league manager of the year also, but they will give it to old red face when united win the league, well done on a 1st year in the premier league, top 10 still achievable.
