According to an article in the Birmingham Mail (their equivalent of the Evening News I guess), PL is still hopeful of recruiting his 'lieutenants' who've been with him since his days at Wycombe.

Makes it seem even more likely that this is a 'masterstroke' by DM (Dangermouse???) to thwart Lambert and I wonder how he'll fare in future without the support of his aides. I'm guessing that he may struggle initially!!!! :emoticon-0116-evilg

It does appear to be slightly odd those two are still at Carrow Road, when a manager takes his 'team', it normally happens within days as opposed to a week or more.

I still expect them to depart but it could get interesting if DM does hold out on these two. Could be lots of courtroom action coming up for disputed compensation claims etc <laugh>

it strikes me that villa are (yet again) trying to weasel out of paying us compensation. they are waiting for us to say 'thanks lads, but you're not required in the new setup - you're free to leave'. however, mcnally is quite rightly saying they are required here and if you want them, you'll have to pay us. as i suggested before, it is merely a matter of time before they move to villa park though.

Yes and only when 'the price is right'. There is NO WAY McNally will let them leave for free which is what PL and the Villa board are hoping will happen!!

IC and GK are contractually bound to us, the only way to recruit them would be by paying compensation, and those sneaky Villains are trying to do it on the cheap, and McNally must be laughing at them...

Didn't McNally say keeping them would be good to enhance coaching in some way, he's going to play the long game with Villa and hopefully it gets us a lot of cash.

Billy - From what I can remember of the interview, McNally said, “We had been encouraging Paul to increase the coaching staff and we now see this as an opportunity to have a larger coaching staff. Ian and Gary will continue in their current roles and with their current responsibilities!!” <ok>

For a 'big' club I find Villa's way of going about things pretty pisspoor. I think it would be really good if we did keep hold of IC and GK and have a broad array of coaching talent supporting the plaing squad. It just might persuade Holty to re-consider but fear that may not happen now.
