Hi guys saints fan in peace (you guys but a year behind!) Firstly well done for your first season back, I hope we can emulate your success next season. I was wondering what your guys thoughts on the Lambert interview. I personally thought Lambert was way out of line. I can understand speculation is frustrating but surely all you guys wanted to know what was going on so why are the journos not allowed to ask questions? I personally thought he was rude without reason. This really winds me up when managers do this (Dalglish!!) but was dissapointed to see a manager I respect as much as Lambert. Anyway wondering what you guys thoughts were.
the journos were told that this was adam drurys night and only topic pertaining to him would be answered. the journo in question has allegiances to portaloo road.
Think he's just had enough of these questions. In my opinion the reporter was rude, and rather stupid. Lambert had said he doesn't want to hear anything like it after the first question - perfectly reasonable - the reporter then ignores it and asks a question. Lambert was perfectly right to have a go at him after the second question. At the same time it's good that us Norwich fans heard that as we all wanted some sort of clarification from him. Maybe my view would be different if I was a Norwich fan but I think he wasn't too rude.
Oh and Lambert also made it clear that it was Drurys night so that makes the reporters questions even more unwelcome and all the more rude. I may have been fine with the reporter had it been any other game and I think that was a big contribution to why Lambert had a go at the reporter.
Ah I didnt see that he had said that I guess thats fair enough. Still feel abit sorry for the journos probably was told he had to ask those questions no matter what or perhaps he was just abit of a tool. Anyway cheers for clearing it up, good luck next year (except on two occasions!)
Journalists need to learn some humility and manners themselves. They seem to think that their job excuses them from the normal decencies and common courtesies -- and then when someone puts them in their place they get all offended. Why should everyone play their game? They are like playground bullies; keep giving in and they only get worse. What a self-important, arrogant lot most of them are. "We're the press, cross us if you dare!" Well PL dares, and well done to him.
I loved it, mostly because thats what I've wanted to say to all the people going on about Lambert going to Villa.
Lambert was spot on, it was Drury's moment. Since when did journos deserve respect anyway? They make a career out of invading peoples privacy and printing lies. Sent from my Android using Tapatalk
Don't know if anyone else has the same problem but when I click on it it's an interview from about six weeks ago, has it been removed?
Nigel Atkins better get ready to have a microphone shoved in his face a lot more now, you boys are now back in the goldfish bowl of the premier league
aha Adkins is probably the only manager who would provoke that response from the press ! His ability to answer difficult questions for minutes without saying a single thing is legendary. Anyway how do you guys see the league panning out this time, worried about second season syndrome? Personally I think it will hit the swans hardest of all. I just hope we can stay up. Do you think you guys need to strengthen over the summer?
Our defence will have to strengthen and we will need a general upping in skill level from our players. Luckily the building blocks are in place so I think we'll be fine. I think you guys will do okay as well, you need a few players but I'm sure you will get them.
I love Adkins, especially the fact he used to be a physio, became Scunthorpe's caretaker manager and turned out to be actually quite good and now he's led Southampton to back to back promotions, like Norwich! I think Southampton will stay up, think West Ham may struggle like QPR this season. Unsure about Norwich, every team will have to strengthen.
With all due respect, I think we're better than all the promoted teams, and several of the current prem teams. Our big priority at the moment has to be keeping Lambert and Holt. At this stage I think, touch wood, we've weathered the storm and they'll both be here come August. If that's the case, we do need to strengthen as we've released a couple of players, but I'm pretty confident that we'll be mid-table and could even be aiming for top half. If Lambert leaves, and especially if Holt goes too, we'll be in a bit more of an unpredictable position. We've got a good base, but it will massively depend on the manager that replaces Lambert and what signings they bring in. If Lambert goes, we could also be aiming for top ten, but I'd be far less confident about it and would tend to think we might be in for a relegation battle.
Yep swans will need a plan b next season, they know that Think the above comments are about right - keep lambo, holt, and get a few more in, we will be ok but would be happy with 17th. Unlikely to get to 12th again Saints will have momentum like us last season. Think you will be ok if you get off to a good start
I reckon there are a number of nervous sets of fans out there. The three promoted clubs will always be perceived as most likely to drop although this was not the case last season. We have a pretty decent squad who I think will improve the longer they play together and as long as certain key players stay fit. As previous stated we need above all to keep Lambert (much like Saints!) and hopefully Holt as well. If we could acquire a decent CB, keep our on-loan RB and maybe get another forward that will pretty much do (although this is obviously easier said than done). Hope Saints survive as long as it's not at our expense. Decent club/fans and historically always been good to watch.
