Lallana

I'm doing that British thing and sticking up for and supporting the unfairly victimised.

He played very well last night but I have to agree that Morgan was the real man of the match.

PS Just had a kiss:emoticon-0109-kiss: on the cheek for writing that.

I wouldn't say Guly is as victimised as he used to be - got a good reception last night

Does Morgan pick up a ban for the yellow card?

It is mouth watering to think that we have Lallana to come back into that team. Get him Fit and Joes/Forren in ther and we can be a real threat. Teams won't know how to deal with Lallana/Ramirez/Punch coming at them.

Morgan, and greatly deserved too. Honourable mention to Guly, but it must have been clear that he was being instructed to play at the higher tempo of say a 60 minute game, because he was absolutely everywhere in the 1st half. Morgan was immense throughout in his interceptions, his positioning, his running, his tackles - it was a complete game. He just keeps getting better and better. Jack Cork had a pretty good game himself, but he just didn't compare to Schneiderlin.

Tbf, I don't think anyone had an absolutely poor game, although Rodriguez seemed to find it difficult to find the pace of the game, when he came on - it was rather high. Puncheon was somewhat nullified by Everton - they'd done their homework. Hooiveld would have been damaged by a 1st class striker on form, but there wasn't one, so he was OK. And Davis came on in midfield and did his job. No complaints there. Good team performance.

I'm dreading the return match of Hooiveld vs VP.
If they win, will they be the first team to do the double over us this season?

Forren may well be in for Hooiveld at Old Trafford.

I wouldn't bet on it, Hooiveld hasn't really done anything wrong (this time) so Forren would have to be considered a significant improvement to justify dropping him, and Forren won't have got up to speed yet. I'd expect him to be on the bench.

Well as I said he may be in for Jos I'm not betting on it. I'm saying it's a possibility.

Why do people criticise Lallana's defensive work rate? His defensive work rate is fantastic, he had ridiculous stats for tackles and interceptions at the beginning of the season, and it seems to me he seemed extra determined to protect Shaw a little bit more, perhaps as he is only young and is doing his skipper's duty to look after him. Lallana is one of, if not our best player, I would have him over Guly, Ramirez or Puncheon at the moment (not that I don't rate any of them).

I definitely agree. He's ranked at 10th in Interceptions per game in the Premiership, and he's the only player in the top 40 who isn't either a defender or defensive midfielder, and also ranked at 25th in tackles per game, again the the best from any non-defender/defensive mid. Early in the season he had a few lapses and wasn't quite as responsible as he should have been, but I think people are still tarring him with that brush despite him improving significantly and putting in some real defensive shifts.
