I can't have been the only Saints fan struck with horror when Adam went down the other night. I'm sure we're all interested but the question seems not to have been asked.

His groin has historically been his fitness weak spot and he'd clearly done something to it. Has there been any comment about it from club or country? I'd hate to see him off for half a dozen games and then ten games coming back to form.

I suspect the lack of comment suggests there is no problem but I wondered if anyone had heard specifically.

He over-stretched, which caused him to cramp up down the inside of his upper leg, he's fine.

Adam looked in agony. I saw it happen and yelled don't stretch for it...so he should have listened to me. He got up and played on, so probably not terribly serious, but may have caused problems again when he cooled down. Would rather they didn't take chances with him, but couldn't begrudge him a chance against Germany.

Has it been confirmed he has? Which I expect would have been said in the papers if he did get injured.

I think his willingness to keep playing suggests that it can't be too bad.

That suggests it is not serious, but doesn't suggest that he isn't carrying a minor injury that needs protecting. England have a duty of care to Southampton, specially when the match is only a friendly.

Probably because he was. But every time a player gets hurt that doesn't mean he's going to be injured for weeks. It hurt for a bit and then it didn't.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

If something had happened to Adam, I would be numb......and far from comfortable!

To be fair, the way he went down did look bad. The one's that hurt but you recover quickly from are the knocks, over-stretching is often more serious. It looked for all the world like his groin, very glad that its not.

I think it was his groin. It looked like he over-extended it enough for it to hurt, but not enough to cause lasting damage.

I was reacting to Joe's rather hysterical style of post. Hence the similarity in wording. If you hadn't noticed.

To be fair, Vin, it's a rather hysterical thread. I understand why you would worry about one of our best players being injured, but really there's nothing to be worrying about because it's very evident that he's fine. All this thread can serve to do is get other people unnecessarily worried, and I'd quite like to avoid another outbreak of unneccesary hysteria on this forum because it's quite annoying when it happens.
